Thanks all for good wishes. So far we're having steady rain and very light wind though this is supposed to become more severe tonight. Temps are brrr for June. I'm still wearing wooly cardy and socks. Summer sun dresses and sandals are languishing in the cupboard! The bottle of shocking pink nail varnish I bought to spiff up my toenails for the wearing of summer sandals has yet to be opened. I expect we'll have a steambath here once the sun comes out and this system pushes through up to the Maritimes and beyond. The HH has put together a bit of Northern comfort food for this evening's dinner (or tea): Lancashire Hot Pot. That and a good fire in the fireplace will get us through the storm.

saly, good to hear from you and hope you're feeling OK. Good luck with your BT emails!

Sorry to hear about saly's and marthe's troubles. I hope they soon pass.

It's been not too bad a week here - brilliant sunshine all week, though not particularly warm. I was at miss m's this evening, and it was very pleasant to walk home at 10.15 when it was still light.

Ah mangerton, would that it could be light at 10:15 PM here at 41 degrees north. In June, sun sets 9ish and it's completely dark by 10:15. Weatherwise, we're being pounded with rain at the moment but no high winds yet. This will all have passed up the Atlantic coast to Maine and then PEI and Nova Scotia by this time tomorrow.

Woke up this morning to the gentle sound of thunder - the garden got a little rain and now it is brightening up again 20 degrees or so by 4.00pm according to the forecast.

Quite chilly first thing and needed my fleece to go shopping. Rapidly warmed up and felt overdressed on way back. Looks like another cracking day in prospect here.

Only 14 C here in S London as I write - 4 degrees down on this time yesterday - with half-sky cover of broken stratocumulus ("North Sea Cloud") and that stiff NE breeze back yet again.

I put a fleece on too Pet but still need it here at 12 noon. Neighbour agreed it's cold andhe's a man who never grumbles about the weather.

That cold wind has never left Kent/London area.

Beef Oven has been silent for a day or so and is currently in Hungary according to his profile. I hope he's managed to dodge this lot or at least to reach higher ground with a stash of Curly Wurlies

I have been ratherr busy since around just after 9am today! Only just arrived back! preparing for tomorrow!! :)

Surprisingly, the wind, has made the day rather cooler! Seeing the trees blowing and the wind! Some rather idiot motorists on the road and everybody heading for the coast (Be rather cooler dopwen there, i would imagine!)

Went to my eldest sisters this morning to see her on her birthday. Very nice seeing the immediate family altogether!
