It's ok, saly, I knew what you meant. To answer your question, I really don't know, but I shudder to think. Far too many, anyway, but things are changing albeit slowly.

Sorry I had trouble with computer and your name appeared a long way down the page. I got it together but the comma went missing.

I'm glad you got it out. I wouldn't want your dog both limping and lurching!

Stormy Weatherites might be interested in Brummie Simon's long-range forecast for the summer, which is here:

It's rather technical, but Simon does explain in everyday terms as he goes along.

Simon seems cautiously to be predicting pretty dry conditions up until August, average amounts of sun and near-normal temperatures, for most of the UK.

Within the last couple of days my big Bramley apple tree was covered in blossom. Don't think there are many bees around atm. Blossom drifting off gently today in wind and rain earlier. What chance of a good crop?

A good apple crop often seems to occur following a cold winter and dry summer, sal.

They are rather sharp/acid for me now S_A, but a neighbour took lots off my hands a year or two ago and made the best 'boiled fruit cake' for me.

I'd never heard of boiling a cake but it was a good exchange.

Best not to take your brolly out, BBM, unless you fancy taking off???

I'm expecting to find a lot of twigs, small branches and fresh leaves on the ground, following this afternoon and evening's anticipated gales.

Thanks to your post Bbm I decided to don a warmer coat for the cycle ride this morning, and I'm very glad I did... a chill SW blustery gale would have been annoying otherwise.

                                Cheers!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
