Cloudy again with showers promised for this afternoon. Northern lights are supposed to be visible at night but it's been too cloudy to see anything. Our April weather is so changeable. Actually, cool and cloudy will be good weather for the Boston marathon tomorrow. Marathon Day, as we called it, was always a holiday from school. The day itself, 3rd Monday in April, is officially known as (ahem) Patriots' Day. It's a state (not federal) holiday that is only celebrated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts so no holiday for Rhode Island. Happily it coincides with the dreaded April 15th, income tax day, so that those of us who send our federal tax returns to the IRS center in Andover, Mass. get a one day extension. Here come the April showers as I type!
Sister and co. brought vegan goodies so we actually had a very nice dinner. As for haunches in the freezer, we've got plenty of beef and lamb, but no mammoth, woolly or otherwise! I've noticed that converts to these diets are very quick to fall off the wagon if a favorite, but proscribed, treat is on offer. my paleo-loving brother grows wonderful organic heirloom veg up on his farm in Maine. We're always the recipients of delicious spuds (covered in Maine mud), winter squash, root veg, pungent garlic, whenever P. comes to visit. I'm not sure how he reconciles the growing of veg with the new diet. All this food talk probably belongs on the food thread.
All good wishes to saly. I hope the aches and pains go away soon.

Home County types apart from Cali and I must be out making the most of today's one-day wonder: 19 C here, the warmest since September 15 last. The laundry on the line dry in just an hour. Undaunted by a stiff breeze the beautiful young things were thronging the local pub terraces and brazzeria strip opposite the bus station I like to call our answer to Paris's Left Bank, as I passed by, shirtsleeved, an hour ago. Wonderful clear view of... Croydon, from the far end of Church Road.
Just a few observations from what was above the snowline just over a week ago.

And yes - having been out in the elements all week, today was pottering at home with the windows and doors open, sitting outside etc... until cycling to meet folk for a sundowner locally, in bright sunshine at about 6.30!
Just looked up the weather for the Brittany jaunt this week: 23º predicted daytime temp midweek!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
