ferney, thanks for your kind wishes. Fingers crossed that all goes well. Meanwhile, I send all good wishes to my Stormy Weather friends. I hope that saly is feeling better, as well.
Light rain for some time to come as the warm front moves northwards, introducing tomorrow's above average temperatures, especially in the SE, (though I still think they're exaggerating how high they actually will get in E Anglia). I'm afraid it's going to be pretty dull with rain on and off for Scotland, and very windy tomorrow afternoon and evening. Actually, it should feel a bit warmer everywhere on Monday, with more sunshine and lighter winds, even though temperatures will be a couple of degrees down on tomorrow's. Brummie Simon predicts changeable weather for the week, pretty windy and wet for Scotland/N Ireland/Wales/NE England, lighter rain on and off SE of that line, around or slightly above the average daytime temps of eg 10 C in the N, 12 C the south, expected then to yield to dry conditions for the month thereafter. Ideal for cycling!
A lovely morning in the Pennines - finally got to put my winter coat in the laundry ready for ... well, September, if the start of this year's anything to go by! Gentle rain now, but much warmer than it has been, with the "edge" blunted on the wind at last.

Drizzle set in at midday, since then it's been heavier rain on and off with drizzle inbetween. Not cold at just under 11°. Big wedding on in town, as I was walking along five burly Scotsmen headed towards me and the Church, full regalia, jackets full of silver buttons, sporrans flying, beautiful intricate silver kilt pins, sgian dubhs (think that's the correct word) tucked into socks.
So thrilling, I nearly swooned clean away! It's funny, you can put the most unprepossesing man into a kilt and suddenly - he's a handsome Braveheart who can melt any maiden's heart!
Best wishes to marthe and her Mum and also to Saly, if she's watching.
Lovely description Anna! Someone was saying to me the other day, how I would look great in full regalia. I said a definte no to that! Even though I am entitled to wear the partiucular tartan!
Absolutely pouring down now!

Power dressing's never impressed me - but there again, I've long been an ardent feminist.

The rain is gone, the sun is shining, the violets are now in bloom in my garden and they actually have a delicious, delicate scent. HH has taken the MG down to the local pub to see Wigan and Millwall(?) thrash it out. I'm keeping fingers crossed for the correct outcome. A sister (I've 5 sisters) is coming up, with partner, from NYC area to visit mom this afternoon. They'll be staying over tonight. When I asked E. what dinner plans they had, she replied that she and partner are now vegan and will be bringing a few veg along. This throws a spanner into the works at our meat-eating establishment. I shall hie myself to the local health food market and avail myself of some prepared vegan goodies. Oh well, two months ago my brother, who lives in the wilds of Maine, came to visit and informed us that he and his wife are now on the Paleo diet and are only eating meat, fish, eggs etc. That scuttled the veg casserole I had warming in the oven! On another note, I hope our saly is feeling better. Thanks for good wishes, too. Off to the shops, visit mom, library etc.
Anna, I love the description of the kilted groom. A Scottish friend, who now lives in Chicago, recently married a lovely woman from said city, and wore the whole get-up for the wedding. Quite impressive!
Started day with wood anenomes and celandines properly basking open to their max....high but warm wind....warm drizzle now....no need for central heating at last....
....Hope you are getting better Salymap....my ex just been around here with something similar (made me remember that she is a bad cougher, i.e. like a dog doesn't seem to be able to cough in a normal way....)

In a message this morning, salymap reports that she has ... toothache!
Poor salymap is clearly being put through the mangle at the moment - she's on new blood pressure meds too and they've reduced her BP to normal but this has resulted in her feeling shaky and shivery
All positive thoughts towards Kent and salymap in particular, svp
Well, I'm glad some have the sun (although the sun always shines on the righteous of course!)
It's horrible here, rainy, windy (gusting at 36mph), dark enough to have the light on in order to read. I suppose the only good thing is that it's around 12° but to be honest, I'd rather it was back to cold and bright. Today's weather is just depressing.
Poor salymap, it's been one thing after the other - the two worst pains are toothache and earache so all good wishes wafting to Kent. And poor marthe, carnivores turning into vegans and people suddenly on the Paleo Diet. I had to look that up, it's short for Paleolithic aka the Caveman Diet. Supposed to be what genetically we are programmed to eat (wonder if marthe has a haunch of woolly mammoth in the freezer?)
