I can do without Bach's 110 orwhatever Cantatas. A short spell at Breitkopf,London meant I had to type a catalgue of the pesky things, in German AND English, with full scoring etc and differential spacing, not known to the computer generation now. That meant lining up the right hand margin, as the ......thing was for printing. And yes, typewriter was equipped with umlauts etc. Geistlich und weltliche[??? ]
That would put any girl of the things. Sorry, waldhorn, et al........

I hope they were better umlauts than this, which I got from the BBC website:

OrgelbÃ1/4chlein - chorale preludes for Passiontide and Easter:

PS.... my computer and I can do umlauts: ü Ü

Here too, now, BBM - but with bl**dy cold wind! - I just went out on the bike, and had to come straight back for some gloves!

Reasonably sunny here but that biting wind just will not go away and it feels perishingly cold. Out in the countryside round here there is still lots of snow in the fields and large piles on the roadside, a foot deep in isolated places where strong drifting occurred.

I'm really hoping that it's just that biting wind that stops my very sore throat from recovering. Even young fit people like you boys say it's cold, so it must be.

I managed to shake off a cough two weekends ago but there are lingering catarrhal annoyances that will not go... Warm sunshine is urgently called for!

saly, it definitely is. Still perishing here in the frozen north, though dry and sunny today.

As part of my exciting lifestyle up here beyond the pale, I read my electric meter on the first of each month*. In March 2013 I used 33% more than I did in March 2012. (All my heating is electric).

                      * I know, I really must get out more, but it's been too damn cold!

I know, I've had my gas central heating on at about 70f/ 20c day and night since about October mangerton.

I pay an enormous sum by DD every month and any over will be spread into next year, if I understand their jargon correctly. Not much to get excited about here either.

Oooh kind neighbour has just put my bins out for me too. Lucky old me.

Excellent, Salymap. Be warm and be damned to them, whoever they are.

I, too, have had the heating on day and night since October. I don't intend to be cold, ever againf.

Fortunately, things are looking up in Liverpool. It has been sunny and quite mild all day - and the Liverpool "duck" sank in the Salthouse Dock.

Best wishes to all from Angle

Steady snow falling here right now. Will have to check when it was the last time I recorded 1 degree C at midday in April - probably never!

But just to cheer everyone up, temperatures should be back to normal everywhere by Saturday... for January!
