      Brilliant sunshine here for several days now.
      Frosty nights though, with ice on the bird baths.
      Even so, both have their advantages: sunshine means golf; frost means a great run on the ball;

      The forecast for tomorrow is more of the same.

            It's still cold, it's raining, I have nasty cold and cough. Shall live on porridge laced with whisky today.

                Still unbelievably cold, just 2.5 C at noon - checking my diaries, surprised to discover that the low temperatures of last 2 weeks have equalled those of the infamous 1963 winter.

                I think I just spotted a brief shaft of sunlight...

                  that is surprising - why hasn't the sea been freezing as it did then ?

                  it seems in Scandinavia they get used to the cold at a young age
                  Would you put your baby or toddler outside in the freezing cold for their lunchtime nap? Many Nordic parents wouldn't give it a second thought.

                      Another sunny day here, temp currently 7°C, after a bitterly cold start. Thick frost on the car and -3°C at 7.30 this morning.

                        Thereby transforming a winter of discontent?

                          My apologies, mercia! Point of clarification: I was referring to the equivalent last two weeks of February.

                            Lovely sunny day today but very coid wind.

                            Had a rather a large glass of whisky last night. Seems to have done the trick!

                            Mind you, just to be on the safe side, might have another one as well tonight!!

                                Dreary day here. Cool, rainy, and windy. A good day for saly's whiskey and porridge. I've already had the porridge for breakfast so I'll save the whiskey for this evening. Hot soup and cups of tea will tke the edge off the cold and damp. It's actually a good day to catch up on paperwork (instead of fooling around on the computer.)
