"Pickwick Papers" I think?"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

My lovely neighbour, Roger, I have mentioned him before and his theory about the width of Wagner's chords, plus his Uncle played for the Halle and therefore I am the recipient of some Halle/Mark Elder cds. Apart from Wagner he has a passion for Elgar.
Saly, last time you posted you said CCTV had been taken of your chimney, have they not booked appointment yet to come and sort it?
'nuff said - shall look further when weather better as can't be done now anyway.
ps. I've always wanted to try the steam thing, well now I have

Thanks Anna, I can sort out something from the Yellow Pages later, that sort of work can't be done until spring.
I only use Jen for computer help as mine wants so much done, luckily still can sort out a cowboy firm from a mile off. And please don't worry, nice of you, but all the time the central heating is working [crossed fingers smiley] I'm quite warm here.

Try this site, about which I've heard a lot of good reports (my retired aunt - in S London - Mitcham - has used it to source reliable traders for several tasks since she was widowed last autumn, and all have been good).
The traders who advertise in it are subject to checks and reviews, and are as near as you can get to personal recommendations"...the isle is full of noises,

I second Cali's post - stay clear of Yellow Pages. I was once taken for a ride by a firm of plumbers (because I couldn't get my local one out in a hurry for a leak and I panicked), they seem to think females are easy prey, much like a certain Toyota garage I went to who said I needed over £300+ of work done. Took the car to my local garage, what I had been quoted was complete nonsense.
