OH me too BBM - "Noël Nouvelet" is a gorgeous one too, with that whiff of the medieval and the pastoral...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Thanks! All the best of stuff, and some made very near here. I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

There's always this hiatus on Christmas Day, presents are done and dusted but it's not quite time to put the sprouts on and get stuck in to feasting and open the Prosecco!
So, here is the weather report: Cloud base 1135ft, barometer 994 and rising, dry, and enough blue sky to make a matelot a pair of trousers, it's around 9° so all very pleasant and calm. Last night was a still and starry, starry bright night.
I see Cali on another thread has posted his starter will also be prawn cocktail - well they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
I do expect a full and frank account of everyone's Christmas dinner in due course .....

The weather here today has been remarkable. Sunny and mild. The sun has set as Iwrite this, but there is still some colour in it. I expect there will be a frost tonight. A full report of today's catering will follow idc.

I'll report on my meal Anna as I had it at lunch time. Back gets progressively worse as the day goes on so my doc has advised me to eat main meal at midday or otherwise I often don't bother

BirdsEye chicken meal with added fresh chicken joint, Sprouts, bread sauce, sausage and sage and onion stuffing. S'bury's small Xmas pud, cream, coffee. Well it did me.Cherry liqueur chocolates
                    afterwards.

I miss making my Lebzeltbackerei biscuits {ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves] that they hang on Christmas trees in Austria. I made them for years but the standing and cutting out are too much trouble now. Homemade are much better than the shop ones too.

I had one of those too saly - they're not too stuffy - I'm keeping the other one for New Year's Eve.

Perhaps you should let your relatives know the recipe so they can make some for themselves and bring some on their next visit. My mother kept all her best recipes in her head, unfortunately.

That surprises me mercia, often it's enough blue to make a Dutchman a pair of trousers, I have no idea where the saying originates. There were a few showers yesterday evening but a clear night again, dry, breezy with broken cloud at the moment. The Met Office have a yellow warning of rain for Wales & the SW (and parts of Scotland) from today through to Saturday. Just looked at rainfall records for here, November we had 157.7mm which is twice the average but this month so far we've had 109mm (average is 84.7) so December promises not to be as wet as November.

Saly, your meal sounds just right - particularly the cherry liqueur chocolates afterwards (there is a serious lack of chocolate here including the traditional chocolate covered ginger!) I usually buy the soft white glazed Pfefferkuchen at Christmas but sadly forget this year.

Edit: Largely tv-free Christmas. I enjoyed the childrens' programmes(!) Room on the Broom, Mr. Stink, The Snowman, The Snowman and the Dog, Dr. Who and the Snowmen I didn't watch Downton, shall I catch up with it or not?

Anna, one old boyfriend sent me some lovely chocs including the ones I mentioned. Have just spoiled my appetite by scoffing a little bar of veryrich plain choc, filled with marzipan,RUM and raisins. I'venever got so drunk on a bar of chocolate before. I hope to watch Calamity Jane this afternoon as I mentioned I didn't have it and was given a box of six old musicals including that.

Saly, do you know what? I got, from a relative, a box of chocolate covered brazil nuts!! <shock horror emoticon> My very, very, LEAST FAVOURITE!! And, no old boyfriends were forthcoming with any sort of goods of the edible kind!! You obviously have a better class of gentleman suitors! I would positively die for some dark covered marzipan now .....
I thought, this afternoon, I might get mired in emotion (stop sniggering at the back you lot!) and watch Miracle on 34th Street.
