If Simon's predictions are correct then mean temperatures around -1 to -1.5C below normal during the Winter season, and drier than normal conditions sounds pretty good to me! From memory last Winter was ok (snow in November I recall and none after that) whereas both the two years before were perfectly dreadful as regards snow (and therefore being snowed in) and record low temperatures.

Admittedly this is the Southeast - but it's usually warmer in Wales during the winter three-quarters () of the year.
Here it was never near cold enough for snow last November. Some sleety stuff fell on Dec 16th and didn't settle, followed by three lots of not very substantial snowfalls in an almost consistently sub-zero spell lasting from Jan 31 to Feb 12. Temperatures from December to February inclusive were slightly below average, with some nighttime minima pulling towards the negative figures.
If Simon's predictions prove correct, I shall be keeping my hands to myself again this coming winter!

It's a terrible day here, raining cats and dogs, front drive and path flooded, dark as November - which, come to think of it is only about 12 daya away.
BBCMM December has come, Messiaen CD and carols and an article by David Owen Norris about 'A Dickensian
Christmas' promised for next month.
What a day Yuk

Any prospect at all of a dryish ride home at 6ish????

That reply would be a dry-cycling anti-depressant I guess
