Big puddles all over the Common this morning. Leaves are already spectacular..

Hope it's going to be OK for the TUC in London on Saturday. See you there, anyone?
    I'll be there! <red flag emoticon>

Simon's predictions (not THAT Simon) are fascinating, even when he's predicting a cold winter.

A bit more detail from Simon (not THAT Simon ) that I found useful and less worrying, tho' bad enough

If Simon's predictions are correct then mean temperatures around -1 to -1.5C below normal during the Winter season, and drier than normal conditions sounds pretty good to me! From memory last Winter was ok (snow in November I recall and none after that) whereas both the two years before were perfectly dreadful as regards snow (and therefore being snowed in) and record low temperatures.

Snow last November??? Shurely Shome Mishtake!!!

Admittedly this is the Southeast - but it's usually warmer in Wales during the winter three-quarters () of the year.

Here it was never near cold enough for snow last November. Some sleety stuff fell on Dec 16th and didn't settle, followed by three lots of not very substantial snowfalls in an almost consistently sub-zero spell lasting from Jan 31 to Feb 12. Temperatures from December to February inclusive were slightly below average, with some nighttime minima pulling towards the negative figures.

If Simon's predictions prove correct, I shall be keeping my hands to myself again this coming winter!

...and the populace of Dulwich/Crystal Palace breathes again...

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sorry, it was indeed my mistake <hangs head in shame emoticon> It was the year before, I was in Sussex and cut short my visit just before the SE became snowbound (I think the M23 and Gatwick were at a standstill the day after) and arriving back in Wales we had had snow, it was still lying and bitterly cold, enough to slice your ears off.

When I informed a friend that I was living in Crystal Palace, he replied, "It must be pretty cold at this time of the year!"

It's a terrible day here, raining cats and dogs, front drive and path flooded, dark as November - which, come to think of it is only about 12 daya away.

BBCMM December has come, Messiaen CD and carols and an article by David Owen Norris about 'A Dickensian
                      Christmas' promised for next month.

                      What a day Yuk

A right messy 'un - and more of this to come in the SE tomorrow afternoon/night, followed by expected fogginess, but quite warm temperatures on Monday and Tuesday as winds flow up from the Mediterranean.

Any prospect at all of a dryish ride home at 6ish????

(I suspect I already know the answer )

If S_A says it'll be dry, you'll be cheered-up, Caliban

                              That reply would be a dry-cycling anti-depressant I guess
