And, you don't often ...... Now, I must away to the velodrome and see the cyclists!
Edit: Scrub that, seems Britain's women have infringed a rule and are eliminated?
Explanation from BBC: Rob Hayles, Double Olympic medallist and BBC cycling commentator at the Velodrome"I believe it was Victoria Pendleton taking over too early. There are two points on the straight, and like athletics where you have to hand over the baton, you have to change over within a certain place on the track.

"Vicky must not take over before a certain point or after a certain point and they have changed over outside the allocated area on the track."
Oh Ratz!! Is all I can say.

"Asseverate". What a great word. I must remember to use it more often, starting tomorrow on my return to work. You just can't argue with someone who asseverates.

Today, June 14th … Today in 1800 was indisputably the day that Napoleon defeated the Austrians at the battle of Marengo. It is also indispu...

A sudden shower here in NW2 and almost immediately the irritating South African commentator on Test Match Special crows that there've been no showers in Headingley - that's fine by me, I guess

By an amazing bit of timing, I left my bike outside in broad midday sunshine and shopped for ten minutes in my local Saint Sprees. On leaving, the sun was shining, but the streets cascading with water from what a bystander described as a huge cloudburst - of which I had seen nothing! Here, less than a mile away, not one drop of rain had fallen!!!

Hardly any sudden showers here in south-eastern Iowa....worst drought for years, but we had a downpour the night after I arrived. Haven't seen a ghost of a faggot. I think they are burgers here, anyway.

Lovely day here, albeit rather windy. No rain so far today.

Lucky you! I've just put on the R4 news at 6.00. in the hopes it would be an o-fz.

But oh no! I switched it off after four minutes when they were still chuntering on about "history being made....."

There are many more important things going on than a few medals being won, and it is high time, as an alleged impartial broadcaster, that the BBC recognised them.

Yes I switched on R4 and thought the same. At least it should come in a separate bit after the dreadful state of so many countries/people,

Apparently "to meddle" has been made into a new verb. No, not as in "to interfere", but to obtain a medal, I kid you not!

I asseverate (see elsewhere ) that this medaling with the Queen's English really has to be stopped, forthwith if not sooner.
