As others have said, though, "Vertigo" is a great film. Amazing, even.

At work today. 65 minutes to go. Dry and overcast here.

PS - saly, sorry to hear about your bin. I, and I imagine everyone here, would move it for you if we could.
Bin done but thanks for the thought. I had an hour's phone call from coz in Adelaide, we were
talking about the 'Carry On' films and testing each other's memories of old films. Think I won by a short head.

He's coming over in September, it's something to look forward to. May watch 'Vertigo' too.

Glorious sunshine after two welcome days of rain and drizzle. The heavens opened Saturday night and there was flash flooding in low-lying areas. The bridge was closed because of the rain (there are many local jokes about closing the bridge)leaving exiting Folk Festival goers stranded on the island for the duration of the storm. My son's birthday is today (he's 28). This always marks the beginning of the end of summer for me.

Oh how pleased he would have been to be offered up as an alternative to the Olympics [not] - "I don't come all the way from Great Portland Street to be treated to a load of old rubbish this!"

A funny day here, quite apart from all th rumpus on the boards. Humid but windy, occasional rain, dry spells.

I'm making a big braised steak casserole for tonight so we will probably have a heatwave at 6pm.

I was rather unwell yesterday! Goodness knows what it was! Felt as though it was a viral infection though. Feeling better today.

There are a lot of strange bugs about Bbm. Doctors blame the odd weather.

It was sunny here but it's now clouding up. Quite nice for March or April.

A belated happy birthday to marthe's son. She is very good at remembering things like that but I let it go. Sorry marthe

Thank you saly! C. will be pleased to know of birthday wishes from England, a place that's dear to his heart. Our days are drawing in as well. Last night the moonrise (full moon) was beautiful. I don't remember the name (as in "harvest" or "corn") of this moon but it was lovely watching it rise over the sea. Weather changes back and forth here with high summer one day and autumn the next. Today it's cloudy and humid. Jazz festival this weekend. Traffic will be difficult.

Not yet the Harvest Moon - that comes with the equinox.
And is followed by the Hunter's Moon...

                            EDIT -

it seems that in America the August moon is a "sturgeon moon"...

Why thank you Vinteuil! I'd never heard of the "sturgeon moon." I shall have to get a Farmer's Almanac.

I imagine the moon must exert some influence on the female sturgeon, perhaps promoting the development and harvesting of the caviar which doubtless graces our dear vinmousseux's table on a regular basis?

Interesting comment from Bret Easton Ellis about the film:

"Vertigo: bored at 17, mildly interested at 28, beyond devastated at 37. From then on I've considered it the most beautiful film ever made... "
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
