    Stormy Weather

Welcome to our new base camp. While the chill winds blow through the Beeb and the snow piles up outside grab some coffee and/or a duvet and get posting.

Bless you, Mahlerei, for reviving this old favourite from the Beeb days. As I wrote on their dying embers a few moments ago, we have no snow here but, in the street, I saw a couple of brass monkeys commiserating with each other. :p

I've just unearthed, at the back of a drawer, the Yaktrax Walker thingies that you slip on over your shoes so that you can walk on ice, etc with total security. They are one of the most useful things I have ever bought - last year I could walk on the ice, etc with total security as people were slithering hither and thither on the Bristol hills.

        Highly recommended

That's a coincidence - I thought a few days ago of contacting you to remind me what the beasts were called, after you expressed satisfaction with them last year.

And a choice of two styles, with Mary's Ice Grips!

Sorry, it's Glorious Weather here at the moment :)
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

ff, if you are intending to buy either of those I would advise you to do so now.

Last year, I had the devil of a job to find an online supplier with any stock as I had left it too late into the winter.

                  Hi salymap,
                  Well, I've made it.

Mind you I haven't had much success getting the ice-shoes recommended by our friends on this thread: my size 9 feet just happen to be common as muck. :(

                    Hi Sal

Glad to see you've landed safely. I think most of the old gang had made it to the dark side but may not be posting yet.

Wonderful that you are here salymap - it just would not have been the same without you - I shall go for a walk in the snow with Dvorak to celebrate

When you are writing your post you will see a 'toolbar' above the text.

You click on the seventh icon along (the one that looks like a square with blobs at each corner).

It seems that the file needs to be on your PC.

Assuming you meant uploading images to this board, Mahlerei, I'll attempt to do a post in the Announcements section, because your question is likely to be a regular one here.

(edit: have just seen johnb's post, which covers one method)
