Would that be Gismonti's Schubert settings, Calum?
After a week of lovely weather seen through the glass of an office window, it's great that the weekend is here and the weather is still glorious.
Sun,football and great music,marvelous!
It's sunny this morning with clouds moving in and rain expected later. Now is the time for me to dig up and transplant some hostas so they can get watered in for free! Most of my perennials are showing signs of life but the weeds are giving them close competition. My work is cut out for me. Happy weekend to all!
marthe, I love hostas but unable to grow them here due to rampant giant slug and snail population! Seems they are far too succulent and tasty for molluscs to resist munching.
Not quite Sahara temperatures here but we were 21.2 an hour ago, conditions are hazy, had to chase my first wasp of the year which had flown in! Wonderful show, down the road, of primroses and primulas and the willows are positively glowing bright green. Have got rid of all ivy threatening to take over brickwork and forcing gutters from brackets.
Anna, I get slugs in my garden as well, but they go for other things and leave the hostas alone. Our morning started off sub-Saharan (not quite 21.2 here) but the afternoon and evening have become chill and damp. Shall I call in Time Team to have a look at the mysterious line of stones I found 6" under the surface while I was digging out dandelion roots? Associated finds are ceramics (two tiny sherds), glass (probably pieces of old wine bottles), a piece of coal, and a piece of slag. I suspect the line of stones represents the border of an old planting bed.
A stonkingly gorgeously sunny clear day here in NW2, birds going bonkers on me seed feeders.
Yesterday I tottered to Queen's Park to visit some friends for lunch which we had outdoors, factor 50+ on me noddle, shirt sleeve order. Total bliss, fuelled by some lovely Rasteau red.
Afterwards I re-tottered up Brondesbury Road which is lined for the most part on both sides by mature hornbeam trees - Brent Council has taken care each year to prune them to their characteristic shape and this weekend their leaves were just starting to be evident, giving a shmmering light green efect as I made my way up the road - stunning!
