Originally posted by marthe View Postpmartel, the first, and only time, I've been to Toronto was in January 1970. It was frigid indeed! Though I grew up in New England, where cold and snow are the norm (or were the norm), Toronto in January was colder than anything I had experienced. Ten years later, my husband and I went for a mid-winter break to Montreal! Can't seem to stay away from the frozen north! Good luck with your blizzard conditions!
You wouldn't recognize the city now. Over 2M people, smoggy as hell in the summer and several neighbourhoods have been ghettoized with crime and gun violence.
We have been classed as 'New York North' or New York wannabe'
Send me a PM so I can send you some recent photos of the downtown core

The only headache is when the tourists come in during the summer and think THEY own it.
Taking public transit daily during that time is a headache.
BEST TIME for Beach residents is Spring, Fall and yes Winter
I've taken some stunning winter photos along our boardwalk

I thought I'd post this article to give you an idea as to what we are up against this is from to-day's Toronto Star;
Latest news, reviews and advice on buying a car, saving gas, electric vehicles, tires and more. Visit Toronto Star Autos for news and trends in the auto industry.
When I lived north west of Toronto up on Lake Huron, I had MORE than my share of 'white knuckle' driving.
Living in the city, I still drive, but don't own a car and this is ONE of the reasons.
Other reasons for NOT owning a car are expense in the city and GRIDLOCK
Yes, folks, we have it here

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
