Looks like some rough weather on the eastern seaboard of the US. Hope marthe escapes the worst of it.

Toronto, Ontario's first storm of the year tomorrow.

All hell breaks loose, people can't drive for diddly in winter weather here.

I've had my share of 'white knuckle' white out driving conditions years ago.

Talking to someone I know in northern Quebec was telling me they have WAY too much snow already

Mahlerei, how kind! We've escaped, indeed, with little more than wind (blew my empty bins into the street this AM) and rain. Further north (Massachusetts, Maine, upstate NY) they've had snow. I see member pmartel in Toronto is facing the first snow storm of the year in those parts. Good wishes to pmartel.

the middle kingdom appears blessed with the bright sun and blues sky of yesterday for the next few days .... alas the temperature is dropping to low numbers and jack frost is about but still exhilarating weather ...

Caliban you have made me moist eyed remembering early morning walks around the Serpentine in the turbulent days of teenage years ...

Been there, done that. Really, those flu jabs don't make much difference, do they?

                Get well soon.

Was the Bentley going "wobble-wobble-wobble" through her huge exhausts?
You are most welcome. There was indeed some very healthy wobbling going on... The car sounded to be in very good nick, and I got gooseflesh when it accelerated between speed bumps, that big engine sounded like the brass section of a Soviet orchestra with Svetlanov at the wheel...

I am happy to have been instrumental in what I trust was an agreeable moistening...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Thank you and appreciated, I just came back from grocery shopping on public transit. Everything ran surprizingly smooth.

That said, we may have a lock out of city workers due to budget cuts, etc.

Back in 1999, our mayor at that time called in the Canadian military. Really, we were so insulted and made a laughing stock.

For God sake, it's Canada, we're supposed to like winter??

Winter in a big city such as Toronto can be a MAJOR HEADACHE, on the other hand I have experienced winter's north of Toronto with wind chills of - 40 degrees c and the main highway shut down for 3 days.

So EVERY YEAR, Toronto never learns. Pull up your big boy pants and deal with it.

                      Yup, we're getting it to-day

pmartel, the first, and only time, I've been to Toronto was in January 1970. It was frigid indeed! Though I grew up in New England, where cold and snow are the norm (or were the norm), Toronto in January was colder than anything I had experienced. Ten years later, my husband and I went for a mid-winter break to Montreal! Can't seem to stay away from the frozen north! Good luck with your blizzard conditions!

Bbm, I hope you feel better soon. Nasty thing, the flu. There are so many strains that flu jabs are only good up to a point. I hope you're being well cared for. Best, marthe

BBM, hope you are better soon. I had flu once, about 15 years ago, it was horrible, be sparing with those LemSip and Night Nurse things, loaded with paracetamol, easy to overdose
We went from 13 to -2 yesterday, frost so thick it looked like snow and thick mist, soon cleared to blue skies and sunshine, lovely sunset developing again so Jack Frost will be back tonight. Somehow I feel this weather is far more healthy than the mild and muggy we have had recently. Aren't the evenings getting lighter?

Yep. For the first time today I was able to fetch my afternoon cuppa without needing to switch on the kitchen light!

HOLD THE FRONT PAGE! S-A is saving on his energy costs! Seriously, last couple of days, what a difference, somehow Hope Springs Eternal and all that, the darkest days may slowly be lightening and Spring is not far away. Nice feeling.
