Out?! Goodness! Were you seeing stars - or rainclouds?!

"I was looking at the ceiling and then I saw the sky"...

I'm always out there late, in the wind and the dark, when everything ELSE is done, filling up bird dispensers for the morning, then I come back here for a last look...

I'vejust had to pay a neighbour £40 to replace about 30 inches of guttering. Well,it saves looking for a builder, but, a bit steep I thought.

I also have several bins that for some reason love congregating on my front lawn. I returned some yesterday; today they can stay put. We have five bins to put out every week or fortnight. This is March weather, perhaps later in the year it will be lovely. Keep safe, especially if cycling.

No fear of that in my case, saly: not since being slapped across the face by a large branch during similar such weather many years ago, on the way home from work. Somehow I managed not to be dislodged, and luckily not blinded. I think about Stillhomewardbound, who regularly cycles from Blackheath to work. Goodness knows what it must have been like first thing this morning - imagine cycling across the Thames!

Sunny and calm here. Temps warming up a bit. I hope you are all safe and sound after the big blow! Our niece up in Lancs. posted on FB that all is "present and correct" around her house after the strong winds.

marthe, finally calmed down here but quite frightening today at times with the ferocity of the gusts. I have huge admiration for the cyclists on this MB, risking life and limb in their efforts to be green and environmentally friendly! Although sometimes I do wonder if I may be whisked away into the sky like some latterday Mary Poppins and deposited in the Bristol Channel!

Anna, I'm glad to hear that the wind has calmed down. Ferocious gusts are fearful indeed, though I'm sure Mary Poppins could handle anything blown her way; same for our intrepid MB cyclists!

Amazingly, unbroken all day sunshine and minor wind here in Ultima Thule, bulbs beginning to push through. After the wind-driven Niagara Falls we had here yesterday, a blessing indeed, and rest to the soul!

We had that round yellow thing up in the sky as well. Temps up in the 50s F and snowdrops in bloom! Hardly January weather. A friend is predicting heavy snow for the end of next week. Time to buy a new snow shovel!

The wind seems to be getting up again here in York - hopefully not to return to the levels of the other day!
                        Best regards,

No reply Anna; I'm thinking you've maybe tipped off the beings from a distant place that do the beaming up

Seems very cold here this evening. However first daffs are poking their heads through in front garden.

Down here in North Wilts some stalwart orange calendulas in my front garden haven't stopped flowering since the summer.
