Two trees down in the vicinity, but other than that, and numerous branches lying around, less damage than I would have expected, thank goodness.

All is calm, the sky is clear, a bright fingernail of moon hangs in the sky ...... I think Jack Frost may rub his icy fingers on us tonight ......

I was wondering what David Jason was up to these days ...

Small clip from the ITV1 special 'Touched by Frost' which aired one day after the final broadcast of the series. In the clip we see several cast members talk...

Apparently the high winds are coming back tonight. I'm fed up with this winter already and it's hardly started, Moan, moan.

Sounds as if you've had quite a blast over there. It was a bit brisk last night as the wind picked up and the mercury dropped down to about 9 F (-?c). Clear, cold, and calm this morning. The snowdrops (poor, brave little flowers) are still out...no sign of snow though.

Winds already back here saly after a very calm morning and Met Office have a yellow alert for us, it's gusting 40mph, raining, cold, dark, miserable. Of course we've not had it as bad as Scotland so should be grateful for that and grateful for no snow!

Yes and the people without power have most of my sympathy. it's dreadful, as I know from the past when there were frequent power cuts.

Of course gas heating goes off too because of the pump, etc.

Is it just me or do others feel that a yellow alert merits barely a raised eyebrow?

                        Why a yellow alert?

I know that smoked haddock has a lingering smell but ....

Apparently red alerts are only issued by the Met Office when the severe weather expected is imminent. Oh yes, and apparently Scotland only got it's red alert yesterday when the 100 mph wind peak had already been passed!

I'm off out tonight in all this wind and rain. Dalston should be pretty quiet I imagine...
