It's certainly cold here, saly. I've just looked out of the window, and I see the car windows require de-icing. First time this winter.

Thought I'd open the back door to check - I'd say chilly rather than actually cold, here, but I'm certainly enjoying this morning's log fire. Keep warm, everyone.

First frost here, but mist clearing to reveal clear blue skies and at the moment its 1.7 (35) so a bit nippy but a beautiful sunny day in store I think.

Ditto - zonking frost this a.m., but now rather ominously clouding over. Snow on the way??

Almost frost last night. Bright sun again today. We're heading in the direction of winter weather but I'm glad it's holding off just a bit longer. Yesterday I dug up some calendula (still in bloom) to pot up and bring in side. Pot Marigold for the windowsill. This afternoon will be taken up with getting everything organized for the Christmas program at our house museum. It's called "Keeping Christmas with the Whitehornes" and interprets Christmas celebrations (or non-celebrations) in Newport in 1820.

Hello marthe, I wish I could visit your museum and see your plants. Another magic carpet needed.

Marthe, the Whitehornes Christmas exhibition, are they related to your family? Is the museum in/attached to your house?

First one this year here, too, although it disappeared almost quickly enough. It's about 9 degrees now. No more leaves seem to have descended from the trees as a consequence of this temporary "little local difficulty" (to borrow a Mandrykan phrase from another thread).

saly, we'll have to use a virtual magic carpet. Here's the website for the Newport Restoration Foundation: newportrestoration.org. Just click on "Keeping Christmas with the Whitehornes."

Proper perishing today here as well. But a few wispy pink dawn clouds....(and no verb).

Yes, woke up in the early hours and turned on the heating before dashing back to bed.
