Lovely description, eigth. Pink skies here this evening, though a threat of showers tomorrow. It's still unseasonably warm here (70s) but will cool down soon enough. It's almost time to bring in the houseplants. The days are getting shorter and shorter no matter how warm it is. Once the sun sets for good in Pt. Barrow, Alaska, we will be seeing cooler temps here in New England.

don't worry, by Friday temperatures will be half what they were this weekend (apparently). Time to get the de-icer and snow-shovels out

            Good point, mercia!

Every year after the first snow fall, I remember that I should buy some of those nifty elasticated devices that slip on over the sole of your shoes to give you some decent grip.

And every year by the time I get around to it, they've sold out in my size

So this year ... I can't remember what they're called

If the temperatures by Friday will be half what they were this weekend we are in deep, deep trouble.
In London on Saturday we reached 302 degrees Kelvin - so by Friday we will be at 151 Kelvin, or say minus 122 Celsius.
I don't think de-icer will work at that temperature...

... I stand corrected. Salymap's #2446 to which you were responding was of course in Fahrenheit; In London it was I think 82 deg F, so by Friday we expect 41 deg F...

Don't know the details on the mercury this morning but it has a chill to it I'm afraid I recognise.

Overcast, crows calling over their bin-bag breakfast, big fat bluebottles invading my kitchen carrying tiny sleeping bags and quarrelling over the cracks.

                          You have to love it.
