Seems a fine day is promised today. Pity I have to wait in for a package. Cricket seems to be invading even this thread and lasts for ever [yawn]. To each his/her own

Since the forecasters and the weather gods kept their word I decided to keep mine and flew a friend down to Kent nr Folkestone to have a look from above at the Battle of Britain Memorial which consists i.a. of an enormous three-blade propeller cut into the chalk on the headland. An impressive sight.

Tally-ho! I wonder if you are the only private pilot among the message boards. My two friends who hold licences and have access to light aircraft are perpetually being frustrated by the weather and ending up at Y when intending to get to X This, notwithstanding being weather obsessives who are constantly (and often rather rudely) consulting weather maps on their smartphones. Just shows you...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Ah, it was you then who rattled () over my back garden and scared the pheasant chicks off their feeding table.

I wonder. While I do keep a constant eye on any number of weather forecasts I still haven't succumbed to the blandishments of a smartphone/iphone/ipod/ipad/ianything. Frustration is indeed the name of the general aviation game!

No worry. They can jolly well do with a bit of dieting. I get accused of pampering wild things.

Pampering? Er, like in fattening them up for the Christmas market?

                        THEY ARE NOT FOR CHRISTMAS

Talking about Christmas, I had the first catalogue of Christmas cards this morning.

I don't remember that RAF memorial on the downs. Where is it actually please?

Poor little chicks, hope they recover from the nasty shock. Wish pigeons around here were afraid of planes.
Hundreds of the greedy birds taking all the birdseed and scraps putout.

Not sure whether it's a heat-haze or an autumn mist but very overcast in Kent today.
