Yes I know calum but we naturally cope with our own problems first don't we? Murdoch I leave to the politicians and whoever is effected, the USA I do care about as I have family there, not in the South though.
Weather everywhere seems unpredictable these days. I am haunted by that mudslide that engulfed a school in Malaysia recently. A nightmare surely.

The trend that the climate scientists were predicting for the southern half of the country was for summer to become increasingly warm and dry, instead the last four July and Augusts have been cooler and wetter and this year looks the same. Though May and June had slightly above temperatures in my neck of the woods, so far this month temperatures are averaging over nearly 3 degrees below average and we had heading for well above average rainfall. I think the Solar Cycle has a far greater impact than anything man does, we've had a very long solar minimum and the current sunspot cycle is still rather underpowered at present. Mind you if it does suddenly liven up and throw an X10+ class flare and CME in our direction then it's possibly goodbye to the internet and all online services, satellite and digital TV etc for a number of years.
