Yes I saw that from the report delivered from Shoreham, which showed the landscape view almost wiped out by the rain which was falling at about 1.30 this afternoon. Somehow we missed that up here.

Now sluicing down in a fine, saturating driven drizzle. And, boy, has the temp dropped.

I had two rather pleasant if slightly blustery rides to and from work today - I headed east in the morning sufficiently early for there still to be blue sky among the scudding clouds, and hence some sunshine; and again, back westwards about 6.45-7.30 when again, patches of blue sky were visible and low sun occasionally blinding one along Holborn and Oxford Street.

Cold for the time of year though

It is! Although a muggy and very wet 17 C degrees here right now, that's 3-4 degs below mean for the last third of August.

Lot's of lightning showing up in the last half hour in the Winchester area, I see.

Following overnight torrential rain, a pleasant slightly blustery day but with sun and blue skies.

I was caught in a monsoon -like downpour on the M4 today. Traffic all sensibly slowed to 30/40 MPH.

Very, very wet indeed, after prolonged rain in the Maidenhead area between about 9.00 and 11.00

It seems there was thunder all around NW London at around 12 noon. I was in the garage and noticed heavy rain but never heard thunder, but it would surely have been audible only 8 miles away, and so I included it in my local weather diary.

After the rain cleared here at 4.30 I cycled down to W Dulwich to get some bread, and noted several places where I had to wade through water a foot or so deep. I would imagine we've had a good inch of rainfall since this morning.

That August Bank Holiday weather in full:

                          - the current summary on the BBC website for west London...

                          .

And as for the Sunday trip to Glyndebourne for the Ravel, this is for the Lewes area:

Could've been worse - we could be going Monday!

I wonder why www. Kagoul.com don't sponsor the British weather ?

                            missed a trick there.

Hope the weather doesn't unravel too badly on sunday Cals.

Always a bit wary of Lewes myself, having one or two catholic connections.

                            Edit: Its quite nice here.

Problem at the moment seems to be that they feel they have to err on the side of caution, with an unpredictable pattern of heavy showers threatening people's parades...
