    It's cloudy.

      Lovely here.

cats lolling around pretending to be South American.

      Hot, but not oppressive.

lots of thunder last night, but nothing more.

Should have booked tickets for Womad.......

... aha! do we detect progress? There was a time when our Rumpole unashamedly went about in a "tee-shirt".

He now needs to be discreetly reminded that "short-sleeved shirts" are only acceptable east of Suez. And even then they are pretty dubious...

Well, never without something more seemly over it.

                Staggering heat in Derby today

Leaving the air conditioned office produced an almighty shock as it felt like walking into a solid wall of heat. The temp was 26 degrees at 8.30 this morning and at 17.30 read 35 degrees!

No complaints from me, hope it continues.

It's like the impact of getting out of a plane in Sao Paolo or Mumbai after X hours in air con.
It's been the staggering change in temp / humidity / wind direction [strong easterly oop 'ere] in the space of a mere 36 hrs: 18C Monday p.m., by Tuesday late afternoon 22C, but by noon today 30C. Garden still in shock.

I remember the first time I got out of a plane at Athens (old fashioned steps down to the tarmac) - as you say, like walking into a bathroom in which someone's been having a hot bath for the previous hour or two - wow.

I recall the same sensation on leaving the plane at Rome airport many years ago and also at Bahrain. Wasn't quite prepared for it on such a scale as today, though.

                        Sweltering here.

I can hear the rumble of thunder even though I'm listening to rock music via headphones.

Some spectacular lightning driving back down the M4 from London last night but very little rain. Played tennis this evening and it was very muggy but with quite a strong cooling breeze from the West.

Ha! It's hotter in the UK (36 degrees) than in the Philippines (26 degrees - it's the rainy season - they're all complaining of the cold!).

Much more of a breeze in London this morning, and talk of storms later, so that was just one exceptional day it would seem....
