What a great trip - on, as you say, a perfect day for it !

i have to say that I find doing nothing better than cycling too.
          sorry couldn't resist.

anyhow, a splendid account of your ride S-A, London at its best is a place of wonder. in my current job i am able to do a good bit of walking round central London, and given half decent weather its a sight more enjoyable than the choob, and getting my 10 k steps in becomes a doddle.

back to Twelve tone's tour, the Veggie Burger sounds ace. Might be a good pre proms stop off for a person heading in from the South.

Oh, lovely here today, though i spent much of the day doing dull stuff.
Has anybody else noticed how the roads in Oxfordshire always go in the wrong direction, and have speed cameras every 15 yards?

Presume you were watching on TV, BBM? I was sitting in the seats on Horse Guards Parade and it was far from perfect for spectators! It must surely have been the coldest June morning I can recall. There was a stiff wind blowing and it was spit-spotting with rain throughout. My hands went numb with cold fairly early on and others were saying the same. The troops and horses would rather have that than a scorcher, though.

Ah, I was taking the commentator's point. The people I know who play in the massed bands, certainly enjoyed it!

How would you rate b eing there, as opposed to watching the telly, Pet?

              Rather muggy this evening!

It's like many other events, BBM, like Cheltenham, Proms etc, far more enjoyable live than stuck in front of the TV. You need to apply to Horse Guards before February 28 to be in with a chance of a seat which are allocated by ballot. Please PM me if you want the full address for applications.

Back on topic, it looks like being a dire weekend, weatherwise. It's already raining here and none too warm either. Another dismal write-off.

It'll be interesting to see if the heavy thunderstorms predicted for this area take off. No definite signs one way or the other thus far from the sky, though what's happening up there is hard to discern at present. But it certainly feels heavy.

It became quite muggy during the morning feeling much warmer outside than in, and we had some heavy showers during the afternoon.

Same here in the Pennines. Very slight showers throughout the day; fine in the evening.

Summer Solstice today - Oh well, I had intended to be up to herald the sun whilst washing my face in the dew but when I woke at 4.30am all was grey and dull. Seems with such a cloudy day no-one will notice it's going to be the longest day. However, we can look forward to Midsummer's Day on the 24th which should produce some sunny warmth. I'm sure I don't know what's happened to June but in April (sunniest one since 1942) everyone was saying 'this is our Summer, we'll pay for it later!'

Yesterday from lunchtime onwards some heavy showers, not enough for my plants but better than nothing, very muggy, no thunder. I was looking at some smart Ikea garden parasols to go with my new furniture but wondered, as the table and chairs really haven't been used yet, whether it was worth it (although it's not been really cold neither has it been really balmy!)

I enjoyed reading S_A bike ride route, I know Barnes, Chiswick, Mortlake, from when I lived in London and Grandmother used to live in Old Barnes not far from The Bull (which I assume is still there and still jazzing?)

Yesterday I was reminded of the wonders of the UK weather. As a retirement present the children had bought me a ticket for the final England vs New Zealand 50 over match at the Riverside. My son and I visited the BBC Weather app endlessly and I have to say we found the detail of the weather to be expected in Chester le Street on 20/06/2015 provided by S_A and the Brummie one to be minimal!!!

Anyway the Weather app seemed to have it about right NZ batted under dark grey skies and with the break between innings came steady rain not foreseen by the technology. This went on for a considerable while and seemed set in - but wor app promised sun by 8 and indeed at 5 a dot of blue sky blossomed into the most lovely summer evening
. The icing on the cake was a most exciting finish with an England victory - Bairstow and Rashid having to abandon the methodology of their Yorkshire antecedents Hirst and Rhodes and knocking off the final 54 runs in double quick time. Wonderful.

Lovely day but rather muggy., Hope we have a thunderstorm!

We have the HF London to Brighton Bike Ride 2015 going through our town today. Personally, yes I know they do a lot of good work, etc, BUT why should they have to close all routes out of villages etc and thus impede Sunday's movements?

No chance of that today BBM!

Moff out - 5 adjacent gardens open in the conservation part of Peckham (yes there IS one!) this afternoon at a £7 entry for the lot. Usually lots of twee ladies to chat to at these occasions, plus tasty homemade scones etc.
