A lovely word to describe an impressive spectacle.

As a matter of fact not, aeolium. Indeed, had I spotted them I would probably have just thought they were high cirrus. I must look 'em up again, because the last time I checked there wasn't much info as to their likely causes.

The air is wonderfully clear and fresh for London in midsummer today. We had a large amount of stratocumulus build-up here this morning, but this is dispersing nicely now. Several of the tenants here are sunning themselves out on our lawn - by no means an eyesore in a couple of instances!

There's a garden open day over in Peckham Rye advertised today, showing a stunning garden behind one of the impressive Georgian mansions that line eastern side of the common. The £3.50 entry goes to a reputable charity, so I might just pedal my way over there shortly.

A nice sunny day today but oh! that wind!! Will it ever go away? It's warm out of the wind but in it the temperature absolutely nose-dives. Not much chance of any sun-bathing in these parts unless very well sheltered.

Yes the cool edge to the wind, even in the centre of London, was striking today. Not unpleasant, but it did mean that just a single layer of clothing wasn't enough, really.

Supposed to have been warm today according to the forecast but there was one heck of a 'breeze' blowing and it really took away any warmth that may have been there in the first place. Weather forecasters are trumpeting about temps of 16 or 17 degrees but this really isn't good enough for June when 22 or 23 should be expected as routine. We still have the heating on in the office!

In the seats for Trooping the Colour on Saturday morning and the weather does not look good.

It's been more Oh, Flaming Nora! down here rather than Flaming June! When will this wind ever decrease? It's constant at around 15-20mph, gusting at mid-30s mph. When it drops and the sun appears it does get beautifully warm but the air temps haven't risen at all, as soon as the sun sets it's downright chilly and still forecasts of ground frost. Sunday was the only calm day when I was down to one single short sleeved layer, I'm sure April and early May were a lot hotter and more Summery than we're having now. Heavy rain due on Friday eve/night, garden could do with a downpour. I've treated myself to a metal slatted folding table and chairs set (sort of retro-French style), now I want balmy evenings to be able to sit outside in the evenings and use it ....
