Some people also react to carrots, uncooked tomatoes and celery! Must be awful, I think BBM mentioned before he's also allergic to some foods? Is there likely to be a antihistamine for tree pollen or are there just too many different types of pollen that makes it uneconomic to research it?

Dry start and then shedloads of cold, driving rain, fells invisible for hours, and a sniping wind. On the way SE, I would hazard.

The food allergy can be quite varied but mercifully is not dangerous. Treatment is just the same as for other pollen allergies. Avoidance of the culprit foods. Antihistamines (even non-drowsy types make me dopy so I don't bother with them) , nasal sprays and eye drops as necessary.

The thing about steroid sprays and anti-allergic eye drops is to start them as early as possible, before symptoms take hold.

Pollen not got to me this year yet. Broad beans are my only food allergen.

Scruff still missing: at least Salieri and Costanze are OK (Linda's llamas, apparently).

Hardly any rain here today, and the temperature managed 12.5 C - a couple of degrees up on yesterday, which was unexpectely cold here. Unfortunately it appears that we are all in for a spell of pretty dry north-easterlies as the "Siberian high" pushes a ridge westwards, starting on Friday. Fortunately the source has been much milder than normal for a Russian winter, so we're not now talking hard frost and snow temperatures, though it will be nearer our normal mid-winter temperatures, meaning a delay in the growing season. Once these easterlies get established they can take some shifting.

BBC weather forecasters have been havering all week about what's going to happen on Friday, and I have reason to want to know what mode of transport I'm going to adopt... Earlier in the week there was due to be light rain till 10am then clear; by this afternoon, there was no mention of rain at all... Now they're saying heavy rain in the morning with rain lasting all day...

Any views on Friday, at this stage?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It looks finely balanced between a lot of rain and not much but some, so I'd best not put any bets on Friday for now, Cali.

Cheers... The national weather just now suggested the eastward march of the rain is going to stop around Reading...

                    We shall see

The forecasters generally now seem to agree that the rain won't reach as far as London and indeed during the daylight hours at least will be retreating westwards and heading... well, heading basically for Anna...!

Could do with a drop, for the gardens you understand...

Why can't the forecasters cope with NE breeze? Very few drops here yet although we have been promised splash after splash...

Overcast and quite chilly. We may just missed the rain?

I had thought that, and quite wondered if he was due to process down The Mall in an open landau on his way to ..... ? Anyway, it didn't rain on his parade because it turned around and decided to sit right over me! Been chucking it down all evening, night and morning

... Faith, 'twas only an open brougham, Lady Anna!

Actually, more mundane, just criss-crossing the centre today and it's going to be so much easier aboard the Cali-pede! It's actually sunny!

Sorry about that Anna... It was exactly what the weather map I saw yesterday seemed to presage...
