Anna, sorry about the weather you had yesterday. We had a lovely day over here though, thankfully.

Brilliant sunshine and atmospheric clarity here today - but boy! what a wind doth blow!

We are quite exposed here; is it sheltered to the west where you are, BBM?

Yup, big wind up here in Ultima Thule, vigorous westerly, scudding cloud, bright sun. Out of the wind, potentially lovely; in it, nearer 0C or below than the 2C recorded an hour ago.

The snow this morning turned to rain at around noon and then lovely sunshine and clear skies from about 2:20 this afternoon - and now the rain is back. Constant in all this changeability are the strong winds and the bitter cold.

Quite a few heavy snow showers today. Settled for a few minutes, and then melted. Sunny periods in between.

A clear night but no frost, however the wind this morning was horrendous with trees bending right over, but bright and sunny. Around lunchtime two very heavy hail showers (which was odd as there were hardly any clouds) and overall, extremely cold!! Gritter has just gone by .... Wind now dropped, Met Office warning for snow and ice, taking wind chill into account it's around 2.5° out there now.

Snow overnight in the Pennines, hail an hour ago, and now sleet. And very, very cold.

                          Oh dear.

I don't suppose it will help if I say that it is bright and sunny here, and just the cool side of mild?

Hope it warms up for you soon.

My post of yesterday could not have foreseen what would happen overnight. We have had a good six inches, and it is still snowing heavily. The most snow here for probably four or five years. The brand new car stays in the garage!

I hope the snow does not disrupt things for you too much, alycidon. I looked out at 6.30 this morning to find a little snow had fallen, but the roads were clear, as the gritters had been out. At 7.00 it was snowing heavily, and when I left at 7.30 I had a good 2" to remove from the car. It is now a lovely sunny morning, but still very cold.

Well, it has stopped now, Mangerton, the sun is out, and it is beginning to melt. I do hope it continues as I HAVE to get the car up to Inverness tomorrow to have the delivery plates changed to our personalised ones. That's sad, isn't it? Trouble is, every time I change anything on the policy, I'm hit for £25 - so you can see why I am so anxious to stick to the agreed date. Who'd have thought that we would have all this snow in March?

If this lot melts too quickly, I guess that some places will be flooded.
