A Windy rainy morning has given way to a mild pleasant day here.
Lets hope it stays that way,and that folks up in Scotland including Mangers are all ok.

A truly vicious wind here both yesterday and today. Not as bad as reported up in Scotland but strong enough to have people bent double or stopped dead in their tracks when trying to walk against it. Walking from the office to the railway station after work last night was really tough going into a serious head wind.

It's turned colder now (as forecast) which makes the wind even more vicious than it was yesterday.

I haven't posted, because in Dundee at least nothing much has happened. Being on the east side of the country helps, and the Sidlaw Hills appear to shield Dundee from the excesses further north. The situation of course is much worse further west and north; I'm sure you've all seen or read the reports.

There were a couple of brief snow flurries here yesterday, ,and the gritters were out in the afternoon. Looking out this morning, the skies are overcast, the roads are clear, but the pavements are frost covered (pavement gritters not out yet!) and my car, if I were going to use it today, would require a good scraping.

This is one of those increasingly frequent cases these days when one is grateful for not being further north! However, QWednesday night going into Thursday looks really nasty for everywhere in terms of strong winds and heavy rain, so I'm not ruling out disruption here in the S, especially along the south coast. After which - all being well - the main temperature differentials will be between air of Arctic origins and air originating over Canada, i.e. less marked than with the temperature boundary originating in the Gulf of Mexico. Which essentially means it will be a bit colder everywhere, but not as windy, especially over the north.

Today is a lovely day here, however, and with a nice moderate drying wind and temperature just now pushing 5 C I've been able - for the second time since Christmas! - to put my washing out on the line, thus saving £££ in spin drying bills.

Ah, just seen we have a Met Office yellow warning of rain here for Wednesday-Thursday! Today started lovely, sunny, bright and crept up to 7.7° but now has clouded up, rain forecast around teatime it seems. It was a lovely bright moon last night, but I quite forgot that now is the time to search for the Lovejoy comet!!

S_A, I cannot believe not using a spin dryer for about 5 minutes would save you any more than about 50 pence!!

I think S-A meant tumble dryer. But even 50 pences add up in the long- term.
I had a load of towels drying nicely in the strong breeze. ... until a brisk shower undid all the good work
