Well done with that photo, TS!

High-level W-E-aligned jetstream cirrus caught by the setting sun, illuminated orange. The lower grey pancake cloud is stratocumulus, which is typical of the kind of mildish stable airstream we're experiencing in the southern half of the UK. Further north, nearer to a large low pressure system, they'll probably have been getting a few showers.

great fun to play with, I'm having to learn as I go, being very much a holiday snaps (and not very good at that !) type photographer. For basic snaps it pretty much does it for you.

Landscapes and skyscapes offer more challenges obviously.

I got the camera to make myself try to upskill a bit !

Need to invest in a bigger lense I think..and they don't come cheap.

all photography tips welcome, Flay, or anybody else .

A new thread here, perhaps? http://www.for3.org/forums/forumdisp...he-Photo-Booth

            Many retrospective happy returns, btw!

OT it was a wonderful crisp dry sunny blue-sky winter's day here!

Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

From the school of Tony Blair "Get closer, get closer, get closer."

Still, there is much to be said for that. Enjoy your new camera, ts.

We should perhaps start a suitable seasonal thread in the photography section.

You beat me to it! Well, that's two threads we'll need to start.

OT, it was a lovely day here too, but as I was at work, I saw it all through glass.

Still, I saw the tiniest sliver of old moon in the south east when I left for work at 7.15 this morning. Most picturesque.

I think BBM started a thread for that sort of thing recently which rather fell by the wayside.

Hello sals!! It's the shortest day today (I think - some clever clogs will come along and say No it's the 22nd or the 23rd ...) but basically it gets lighter and lighter from tomorrow onwards!

It's so strange - it seems hardly any time at all since we were on Primrose Hill on Midsummer's Night when it was still basically light at 10.30pm!!

I confess I rather like the variety!
