I too have a tiny Zen patch but I forget to rake it in mystical circles .......
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
Cold, dull and wet all day here, as rightly predicted.
Yep - never really got light in London.
I like the odd dark, rainy Sunday

Yep! Rainy November Sunday = it has to be black & white!
Bit of a clear-out of the PVR hard-drive here - and a watch for the b&w film version of "Lucky Jim"... not a great film despite the Kingsley Amis source material, screenplay by Patrick Campbell, the Boulting Bros. in charge and Ian Carmichael and Terry-Thomas heading the cast.... One feared it was a turkey from the first notes of the very annoying title music by John Addison.
Hey ho, the wind and the rain - it was ok while catching up on emails etc, with the odd 'absolute bounder' emanating from the gap-teeth of Terry-Thomas

There was a panel discussion taking place in the lobby of the Queen Elisabeth Hall at lunchtime today on the subject of Jazz and Gender - part of the ongoing London Jazz Festival, now on its last day. I had been looking forward to attending this, knowing one of the expected protagonists, but cycling the distance just didn't appeal, given the weather, so instead I chose the train to Victoria from nearby Sydenham Hill. Unfortunately the only train to get me there on time was choc-a-block full - this was 11.30 on a Sunday morning, mind! - and only three people managed to board, the rest of us, about 12 in all, deciding to leave. The next train would have been too late, as was the prospect of catching the No 3 bus which goes over Westminster Bridge, nearly a mile from Festival Hall complex.
So that's basically my Sunday messed up, and an email of apology to the friend I'd planned to meet, who like me doesn't carry a mobile.
Coming back on the train yesterday afternoon was another sardines experience. We used to have this thing called the rush hour, as I was telling a young travelling companion, but now whole days seem in need of avoidance, unless one enjoys being squashed up so tight against total strangers as to be hardly able to breathe. Central London is nowadays a travelling nightmare all year around at weekends, by whatever means of transport, unless one doubles travel arrangement timings.
BTW, nice photo, TS - altostratus back sheet of cloud from the same weather system.

Oh dear... sorry to be smug as a bug in a rug, S_A... yes a day like today is a pain if you have anything planned!
And yes, public transport and the roads are a nightmare in the centre at weekends unless you can do everything before 11am or after 11pm...

that is a shocker, S-A, really sorry your day was mucked up.
the numbers travelling off peak now are truly amazing.
I frequently get the 22.05 back to amazingstoke/winchester after concerts in London, at a time when there are around 4 an hour still running. These are long trains, 8/12 coaches, and they are absolutely rammed.
oh, and thanks for the update on nature of the cloud formation, S_A !! did the colours come out ok? the red looks great on Mrs TS's laptop, but look pale and uninspiring on mine !!

Oh not to worry Cali - I'm just one of those people who hate hanging about - I always need to be doing something, and so tend to leave journeying to the last moment!

No, colours look just great, TS. It's funny how the most impressive sunsets tend to be associated with bad weather!
Edit - It appears my problems might well have been down to a fire at Charing Cross half an hour before my journey causing train diversions to Victoria:
