Quite hot in the sunshine this morning when sheltered from the wind.

Hello, marthe - lovely to hear from you again. Is a "blood moon" the same as a "harvest moon"? (And is a "blue moon" an aristocratic "blood moon"?)
    Hello ferney,

The Blood Moon refers to the total lunar eclipse that took place mid-week during the early morning hours EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) of the 8th October. We missed seeing it because cloud and rain had moved in. There are lots of postings of this event on Facebook. I'll have to do a bit of research to find when these other moons occur. Harvest Moon might be the September or October full moon. The Native Americans had a particular name for each full moon throughout the year. I think "blue moon" refers to the occurence of two full moons a month which doesn't happen very often, therefore the expression "once in a blue moon" for rather infrequent events. I do like the idea of an aristocratic "blood moon"!

Right in the middle of the "eye" of the storm here, as I write. You'd never know it!

The first spots of rain from the advancing frontal system destined to warm the weather once more this weekend were falling as I rode back from E Dulwich Sainsbury's just now. I think that's pretty accurate forecasting from the weather people.

"Brummie Simon" of Weatherweb now introduces himself with a pre-recorded ditty - "More than just the weather" , and has also started up a daily report on snow cover. WHATTT??? , I hear you cry:

There are certain suggestions in that direction, BBM, but nothing certain yet.

Meanwhile the Daily Depress's predictions of hurricane force winds this weekend are the usual false alarm - though it will be breezy, and quite warm - but, why do they do it??

We've had three days of rainy weather (low pressure over the Visayas). We're coming up to the anniversary of typhoon Yolande (or something else with an H).
