Warm and breezy today in the Pennines - perfect drying day. I sat out again for half an hour this evening, but the wind was picking up and dark clouds are positively louring in readiness (presumably) for the storms forecast for much of the next few days. Still - a very pleasant week whilst it lasted. October already - fugiting all over the place!

I am reliably informed that there is no Italian equivalent of this phrase......

Coincidentally, I, too, have a photograph of Elgar on my wall but one from much later. I can go one better in that I have it framed together with his signature (authentic) on paper below the photo. Elgar's signature is in pencil, of course, and I've taken great care in ensuring it is away from any sunlight. It's been on my wall for nearly 15 years and still looks as it did when I bought it.

On topic, it's been another warm Summer's day - but if the forecast is right we're in for some heavy rain tomorrow morning.

The grilles are for keeping out burglars. Sad as it is, there are many types who will take anything (especially from a foreigner) if it's easy to do.

You get used to it (but then I already was - 30 years of having offices in prisons).

OT, the day started brightly but by 10.30 there was light drizzle. At 12:30 we have steady but light rain and some breeze, sky very grey.

Being a fully signed-up wise virgin, I have sufficient victuals in stock to see me into next week so I hope I shan't have to get wet.

OT, the day started brightly but by 10.30 there was light drizzle. At 12:30 we have steady but light rain and some breeze, sky very grey.

You'll get wet probably on every day of next week apart from tomorrow, if not adequately attired, ams. Strong umbrellas will be needed too!

One of the biggest drops in temperature experienced for a very long time as the cold front went through at lunchtime here: 17.5 C at 11 am, 13 C at noon, and 10 C at 2 pm as the rain cleared. It's only recovered to 12 C with the sun back out.

September temperatures averaged at 1.7 degrees C above normal here, btw.

Some overnight rain here and a shower early on but the rest of the day bright and sunny but coupled with a cooler wind - Summer changed to Autumn today!

Today's weather was much the same as yesterday's in the Pennines - perhaps a little chillier, but still plenty of sunshine and still one or two adventurous butterflies around. Plenty more wasps - but they ignored me as I riddled my compost (didn't get a single answer correct) and sprinkled it at the foot of the shrubs. Heavy rain forecast for much of tomorrow, so the feed should get nicely soaked in.
