Is 'Metroland' to be repeated? A lovely programme that I heard many years ogo.'
Ach! - it was "repeated" on BBC 4 last night, immediately following a documentary tribute to Betjeman (sp!) presented by AN Wilson. I'm afraid I don't know if BBC 4 programmes are accessible via iPlayer, saly.

Warm, sunny weather continues here in Newport, RI. Empty rain barrel and dry garden are the only drawbacks to this spell of good weather.
Pleasantly warm and fine, if not spectacularly sunny weather is expected here until our weekend, following on from the coollest August overall here in 20 years, I think they said - certainly cooler than June, which is most unusual.
...and a further nine programmes dedicated to the poet (including Summoned by Bells) available to watch from the BBC4 "Archive": http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/group/p025jt33

Good to hear from you again, marthe!
Thanks, S_A. Today it's actually warmer and muggier than it's been all of August. A friend tells me that this cooling trend means that we will be "vortexed' again this winter. I certainly hope not, though precautions will be taken! Our fig tree barely survived last winter's cold blast. I do believe that the extreme cold of last winter made for a fruitful sumer. All of the rosacaea (roses, raspberries and many more) were laden with flower and fruit this year. I'd never seen so many raspberries in our little patch. The cold must have forced those plants into survival mode.
Goodness, BBM, said heatwave must be headed our way!!! Here in sunny Newport, it's been warmer today than at any time during August or July. The nights are drawing in so it's quite pleasant, though dark, at the moment (8:30 PM EDT). The equinox will take place in 3 weeks time with shorter days and longer nights after that. Frost will be around the corner.
Lots of anticyclonic gloom around London today: I can only just make out the London Eye from where I am, just 6 miles to the south. Along comes a nice big high, and it's in the wrong location, and pumping out low-level pollution! - such a waste This will probably stay the same until the weather breaks down and becomes more unsettled once more.
Muggy, slow baking and sweltering oop 'ere in Ultima Thule.
This morning early, season of mists and mellow etcetera.
Garden panting.
Yes, very similar in the Pennines - though quite a bit of cloud cover has just arrived.
Two hours ago, I went out to do half-an-hour's gardening. "I've started so I'll finish; but I wish I hadn't started!" (And the only difference I can see from before is the trowel I've left in the middle of the path. )

This high humidity must be pretty well everywhere, then. Just back from the shoppes half a mile away, I've needed to change my shirt, and it's only 21.5 C.
Going bowling and drinking with clients this evening Hope it's airconditioned!!!
(Am fully expecting flak from vinteuil in relation to the bowling. And where is Anna when one's all ready and waiting to have one's leg pulled?! )
