Rain forecast here from late morning, so I took my brolly and a mac with me on my travels into darkest Leeds - where it was a lovely, sunny day! Practically as soon as I got back home, at 4:00 pm, the rain started - and how! An impressive thunderstorm right overhead (fortissimo at last!) for about half-an-hour. Just cloudy since.

I have the old Macdonald tartan pressed and ready to go for the Sunday, HD.

Don"t know Rab, but one of the beauties of this kind of festival is its age inclusiveness. A rare and lovely thing which the Proms also manages, to a point at least.

Tent pegs should go in a bit more easily after this weekend.

Was in the Cotswolds today where the weather was overcast and warm.

Back home, a couple of hours of rain this evening which is easing off now.

Astonishing! From Noon 'til three there was barely a cloud to be seen.

Not a spot of rain all day in the Metrollops, and my decision to travel by bike was vindicated.... but as I scuttled back to my work bunker with some food before the final 2 hour stint, there was a distinct massing of dirty great black clouds, and a gusting of wind, and the faintest hint of drizzle. I fancy I shall get a soaking on the way home. Tant pis, weekend + washing machine + hot shower = no problem

Alas, no; when I was working in Spennymoor, he would have been in his sixties - I never encountered him.

The heavy downpours forecast for here never materialised, mostly sunny and warm all day until after 6pm when it turned drizzly.

Beeyewtiful sunny morning after a very wet night down here. Trees full of very active insectivores flittering through.

Yes it was - not expected (by me ), and it covered a large area.

Clouds puffing up considerably here now, notwithstanding an officially dry forecast for the SE. And it's much fresher - feels more like September.

Tomorrow looks set to be a very wet and windy day courtesy of the remnants of Hurricane Bertha.

Fine and sunny here at he moment but windy with it.

Same here greenilex - much insect munching I suspect. I'm hoping it's just a lull before Bertha tomorrow and then back to warm for at least another month to six weeks.

Well if you don't ask ....
