I can quite well believe that pabs!

The air quality so bad I went home early from work today, blooming chest playing up,, as it so humid!! :(

Obviously the lovely, clear, unpolluted London air hasn't yet reached you, BBM!

Jazz was on at Cadogan Hall this lunchtime, free at the point of entry, and so I pedalled my way up there, stopped off just off Sloane Square afterwards for a bacon sarnie and chocolate croissant, then returned via childhood haunts and thence on to Battersea Bridge and Clapham Common. Oh the magical qualities of chilled lager shandy and refridgeration!!! It'll probably have to be the Overground to my regular Tuesday night gig; my legs are all done in now!

Back in northern climes, it's a glorious day today. This afternoon I took the bus to Broughty Ferry - it's where Bob Servant hails from. I took these two photographs (not brilliant; just with my phone) to illustrate the difference 45 minutes makes.

The first shows a thick mist over the firth, and in the second , Tentsmuir Forest, two miles south across the firth, can be clearly seen. I'm sure SA will be able to explain this phenomenon.

Back in northern climes, it's a glorious day today. This afternoon I took the bus to Broughty Ferry - it's where Bob Servant hails from. I took these two photographs (not brilliant; just with my phone) to illustrate the difference 45 minutes makes.

The first shows a thick mist over the firth, and in the second , Tentsmuir Forest, two miles south across the firth, can be clearly seen. I'm sure SA will be able to explain this phenomenon.

Not sure, mangers. Could be variable temperatures: as it cools the temperature goes below the given dewpoint, leading to cloud (ie fog) development, then it disperses with the next breath of warner air. Sea fog disperses more easily in summer when the more powerful sun is able to penetrate it.

Pretty packed, TS - the Cadogan would seem to be the "other" octogenarians' jazz spot to the Clock Tower in Croydon. An elderly lady asked me in a strong Made In Chelsea accent, "Do they have music, or do they make it all up as they go along?" As to "the music" it was Brandon Allen the Aussie-born tenor player who has a brother, Simon, who plays alto. Brandon plays a tough 1950s type of hard bop and worked with Stan Tracey (as did his bro). I'm not saying it was my bag particularly - to much like exercises in improvisation from a 1950s primer - but there was a lot of conviction and the rest of the band, 2 of whom I know, gave it an added edge. You've no idea how relieved I feel to be the youngest member of a jazz audience!

Should be over for a while on Sunday, BBM. If that's correct, the expected associated heavy showers will put the kybosh on an intended cycle ride down to Sutton, to celebrate a well-known jazz musician's 70th birthday. Just my luck if the weather does break, as I'd been looking forward to doing that trip by bike rather than by train, as last time. Fingers crossed they've got it wrong, but somehow I don't think so.

Here this afternoon it's beautiful again, though, the wind having got up this afternoon, blown the morning's traffic pollution haze away, and pegged the temperature at a very liveable 26 C.

Transport for London's route planner is less than useless. Anyway, I've walked all the way to Gipsy Hill Station in the heat (half a mile), obtained a timetable telling me how and when to travel to Sutton on Sunday, worked it all out with great difficulty (for starters the timetable only goes as far as W Croydon... and then some ), walked all the way back, and not one person has added a message to the thread.

You must all be outside, sunning yourselves.

Thanks TS - hadn't come across that one before. I'll check that, but I think I've more-or-less worked out where I'm going and when, without assistance, coercion or any change in the law!

Not sure i have actually travelled a route following that site, but it shows useful options.

If you dont want them to change the law, i would suggest not posting your plans ......GCHQ and all that !
