This is the second day it's poured in the afternoon (this should be the start of the delayed rainy season - kids are back at school). But my computer still says it's 32 degrees C at Ivisan - about 5 miles away.

Perhaps, following no change for so long, the needle's got stuck!

Beautiful day here, excellent visibility, gentle breeze, fair weather cumulus, feeling much fresher though at 19 C only 3 degrees down on yesterday's midday.

As predicted, er no sorry forecast we're up to 33°C today (34° tomorrow).

Schools are out and folks are already going on holiday, just as well.

Storms forecast for Saturday night (when a certian footie match will also take place).

Hope you had a good day, BBM - lovely part of the world. I had intended going to the Bulls Head in Barnes tonight. It's a 10-mile ride each way: I could take the train but the fairly early link at Clapham Junction would entail leaving the gig early, which one hates doing. Unfortunately the mechanic at Halfords finished early today and so I won't be getting my bike back until tomorrow at earliest, and the other problem is that my right leg damaged in yesterday's tumble really has stiffened up and in ways not amenable to painkillers. So it looks like I'm stymied for the time being.

"Brummie Simon" has sent this short clip of the storms over Europe on Monday we missed by a whisker. Just look at the size of those hailstones!

Nothing much is expected to happen with our weather in the UK for the next few days.

What!?!? Have you fallen off your velocipede again S_A? Have you considered stabilisers?

Did anyone sit out yesterday in that perfect Summer's evening? It was still so light at 10.15 and was beautiful with the smell of honeysuckle wafting in the air .... and then that wonderful nearly full moon in an absolute clear sky later lighting the way to bed. First thing this morning, around 6.30am, a wonderful katabatic mist, (would have made a smashing photo if my battery hadn't been flat), today not too hot with a high of 22.7°, slight breeze.

People were taking advantage of the lovely evening though.

I well remember you asking about katabatic flows when I first posted on this thread, Anna.

On the other question, yes, it was a pothole, or rather, a drainage sump beside the kerb which had not been raised when the Crystal palace parade was resurfaced. Turning back to the inside of the road my mind was focussed on a bus I'd just passed signalling to move out, and I completely missed the drain. A man passing by got the full vent of my ire towards the council - poor, understanding man! The bike got the worst of it this time - both tyres burst, front wheel too badly bent to be straightened. L:uckily it's still under warranty, so Halfords repaired it for nothing after the bloke serving yesterday said they'd charge for labour and a replacement inner tube. The council has a reporting system online which is rather odd: first you say into which category the problem is you want to report, so I clicked on "Pothole/road surface", and then the next page asked for my name and address etc. I thought "Eh what??? I havent said where it happened". But that was the next entry. The only other problem was there wa no facility to register the complaint that it had caused injury to self and bike, but after thanking one it said that a surveyor would be along tlo judge if the problem required remedying. Fortunately I made it to the Bulls Head - I'd forgotten what a pretty "village" Barnes is, with its Regency houses facing the river.

A perfect Summer's day here today. What a wonderful time of year this is! It's criminal to have to spend all day stuck in the office!

The BBC/Met forecast seems to consistently and possibly deliberately understate the temperatures recently. 19/20 degrees centigrade was forecast for today but not for the first time it peaked at 27 degrees this afternoon. Are they doing this on purpose to save themselves from egg on face when it's nowhere near as warm as forecast? If so, can they desist? All I want is a reasonably accurate forecast for the day.

Ah yes, I was forgetting that. Have you done all the jobs on Mrs ER's list yet?
