We didn't have anything out of the ordinary here Thursday but that night our local weatherman said this weekend we would be living under a Spanish Plume - how exotic I thought - hadn't heard of that before!

He was right, it rapidly turned so warm, after a greyish start rapidly climbing to over 22°, quite humid though and at midnight it was still 17° and 14° when I got up at 7am, there was a bit of rain just before dawn, at the moment it's grey, not a breath of wind but the cloud is not particularly low. I don't think here we're going to have the promised thunderstorms and deluges promised.

A glorious day in the Pennines yesterday - instantly changing everyone's mood for the better. First thing this morning (well, half-past-six) it looked as if the sunshine was going to continue and the forecast rainstorms was just scaremongering. Alas, in the past half-hour, the clouds have gathered and are positively louring! Good job I got my "village" walk this morning: I don't think it'll be wise (and certainly not pleasant) to try one later.

32 degrees again (how many times have I written that!) but things are more comfortable because of the centralised air-conditioning. Zach (our Yorkie - who is coming up to 15) appreciates it!.

Despite the rash of bright yellow blisters approaching from the SW on the 10 am map, we seem to have got away with it remarkably lightly here, with an hour of moderate rain; and now the wind has swung around to the SW, indicating that the northward-moving front that was purported to be bringing torrential downpours has passed over. At 20 c it still nevertheless feels like an equatorial hothouse, however, so one can't overlook the possibility that some of this scud-turning-into-cumulus won't in turn produce one or two cloudbursts this afternoon when the sun gets to work on ground-up convection rates.

Filthy wet and not even warm here in Yorkshire although it seems that they are now suggesting it will clear up earlier than expected this afternoon.

Some heavy rain and thunder early this morning and more heavy rain without the thunder at lunchtime.

Are we still on course for a heatwave next week? BBC forecast didn't look particularly promising, at least up to Wednesday.

A Spanish Plume? Is that the Spanish equivalent of "La plume de ma tante"?

I hope you -and indeed all boarders - avoid the worst of the weather. Here today it has been sunny and bright - so far at least.

Here is a picture I took a few minutes ago which allegedly shows the climatic conditions pertaining in the sitting room of mangerton towers.

The question is, are they correct? Comments welcome!

Could be right - nice & warm in your place, mangers, but have you got the lights off and curtains closed?

No, I certainly haven't! What sort of an establishment do you think I'm running? Errm..... my (valve) amplifier produces a fair amount of heat?

OT - It's been raining heavily here since 4.15, but no sound or sight of t & l.

What a day! Lovely this morning, then almost to the exact second I posted #12422 it started to rain and (as Barbs said) "filthy" weather from 9:30 'til about half-past four - a very pleasant evening now: sunshine and clear skies.

Foul here this morning for a spell, but turned nice for the rest of the day.

I just wondered because the light indicator on your gauge was pointing to zero.
