Aha, marthe! Our annual Dulwich Festival, which takes place next month, always includes a tree-spotting conducted walk through one of the local woods or parks. Last year's was so oversubscribed that this year the organisers have asked people to book in advance!

S_A, trees have become a very popular topic. The Newport Tree Society/Newport Arboretum does an excellent job of spreading the word http://newportarboretum.org/home/

Yes, but it's nearly 5.30 in the evening.

Terrible tornadoes in the central States yesterday - Arkansas etc. I thought they were to get this problem licked by seeding clouds with sulphur particles, after a scientist discovered positive outcomes in taking the sting out of tornadoes and violent thunderstorms in general. Maybe they're worried about possible knock-on effects.

Rather foggy to begin with, but a lovely day, so far.

Lots of foghorns at breakfast time. The Common looked good in the mist, with a powerful sun just breaking through. Spring sunshine since then.

I just checked, and our temperature average has been 2.4 degrees Celsius above the April mean. That makes above mean temperatures for every month so far this year. It wouldn't surprise me if May turns out colder than April, though.

32 degrees C today - cooler than it has been (nights are terrible). It's forecast to drop to 29 degrees for the next few days. Where's the rain?
