Yes, and they are talking about comparisons with a Great Flood in 1953. Surely new flood defences wouldn't permit that? Some quite serious flooding around Rhyl now.
On a lighter note, I had a funny conversation with the telescope owning, star gazing guy who works at Waitrose. We got on to comets (whilst he scanned my shopping) and he said Hale-Bopp had a malign influence on his life, and others lives that he he knew. I thought that was really weird, so I asked him if he believed in the Mercury Retrograde theory, and he looked at me as if I was weird!
Well, it does make shopping more interesting!!

Completely the reverse of yesterday, calm, blue skies most of the time, got to 10.3° and increase in temps saw clouds of midges dancing. Here is promised reasonably settled and warmer for next few days. Leaf-clearing awaits at the weekend although still only in the first stages of drop, a beautiful old copper beech is in the process of slowly being dismantled down the road this week, such a shame but it seems disease/old age made in inevitable, it was such a landmark and beautiful when in new leaf when the sun shone through the new leaves.
As I'm now using my new boiler for heating I phoned my supplier - they were so nice and helpful, I was really surprised - and as from 1st December have a nil balance on my gas account by transferring a credit from the electric, I'll read the meter every month now and see if indeed it gives the promised savings and if the direct debit can be lowered. I must say so far I am impressed by the efficiency of the wireless technology as regards temperature control.

Especially for those waiting in the queue behind you

I usually get the old lady paying with pennies I've yet to get stuck behind a customer and till-person running rings round Saturn and baying at the Moon... !!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Down these parts, about 20 minutes north of Brighton(drive time), it has been a lovely day, albeit, a cold one. I better not say anymore, not tempting fate!! :(

I've been keeping an eye on Look East (961 on Sky) to see what's been happening in my favourite part of the world.

I feel sorry for the people of Hemsby, but if your home is built on sand and you're only a few feet from the cliff-edge, shouldn't you really expect the inevitable ?

Seven cliff-top homes are badly damaged as the largest tidal surge in 60 years batters the east coast of England.
