Here by comparison it appears we are in for a coldish and rather cloudy but mainly dry week night frosts more likely the further west and daytime temps around the 6-8 C mark, which is not far from the norms.

... there was that debate in the European Parliament, during which the French sentence «Nous avons besoin de la sagesse normande» was simultaneously-translated as "We need Norman Wisdom"...

Yes indeed! Those gales are blowing as I type. Rain?? I'll have to check weather.com though S_A's forecasts are always right on the money! I do believe that Wednesday will be rather nasty. Thanksgiving? We're staying here so that I can spend some time with my mother; hep her eat the Thanksgiving dinner over at the nursing home. The Montreal Express/Alberta Clipper is headed our way.

Had a great day yesterday seeing parents and eldest and youngest sisters too. Lunch at parents, roast beef, etc!!

Not a bad day down these parts, so far!

At 6.5 C and a northerly at an estimated 12 mph (by me!) a little colder than yesterday's midday, but at least the sun has come out. Stratocumulus with some convective cumulus below not breaking through the inversion, and thin altocumulus patches above, therefore dry. I wonder how long before they announce "drought"! "Brummie Simon" is now tentatively predicting rather cold weather for the middle of December; he's added a comment about the forthcoming wind and rainstorm in the States.

                    Nothing as yet, ams.

One always has to remember that colder more often than not denotes more settled, so that would reduce the chances of snow if cold is expected.

                      .... apocryphal, vindepays?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Yesterday's fierce wind brought one of our venerable trees down. We came home from a drive over to the waterfront and found a tree on the house! We're waiting to hear from the insurance gurus so that we can call in an arborist or tree removal expert. The HH is already estimating possible cords of wood for the fireplaces.
