A dank and gloomy day here, overnight rain clearing to ... nondescript dullness and an early darkness. But really warm with a high of 16.7°
I think my workmen like it so much here they're spinning out the job, today a guttering disaster, so another days work for them! On Friday Lionel (who also breeds pedigree Charolais) had to act as midwife with a tricky calving by one of his prize cows, Charlotte, but he resusitated him and now has a fine big bull calf, destined for great things in 18 months time (AI by prize winning Scottish bull) He now has to think of a name beginning with I (all calves born within the year follow the alphabet), he has Idris, Ivor, Ivy and Ivan born this year. Tricky one, boys names beginning with an I. (I know this is boring to non-cattle fanciers!)
Edit: Even more offtopic. Did anyone have ITV on last night (ok, I watched Downton - the shame, the horror!) and see the ads for: M&S; John Lewis; Waitrose; Morrisons and feel, Oh, I'm fed up with Christmas already!

Anna, who are you now? It's all very confusing, I agree with Petrushka (mind you he hasn't got an avatar at all )

The John Lewis ad was rubbish. awful soundrack, Lily Allen, the M&S one was mildly disturbing did you not think, shades of White Rabbit and drugs, I didn't like that at all, the best was Morrisons with Ant & Dec being as usual loveable Geordie boys (one more common that t'other)
But I do not buy into all the Christmas hype and stuff yourself silly. And I will not buy anything from these stores because - they want me to!!

I favour Ivanhoe or Ianto, for a future big butch bull with a huge rib-eye (cattle technology is such that bulls are not merely assessed on the size of their bums now now but scans of their rib-eye potential which adds at least £100 to the value of the carcass!) Oh, it's sad really, he was only born on Friday yet he's being converted into steaks and joints and breeding potential .... I shall present our amalgamated list of names to Lionel when he comes on Thursday - he is iffy about naming too soon in case in encourages bad luck!
I'd avoid any name with a 'v' in it as this letter is not in the Welsh alphabet.
Rib-eye steaks ... <swoon>

The M&S one too clever by half, Tesco's retro neither here nor there. So far I've not seen the Morrisons one but would find Ant and Dec a total turn off. None of them will make the slightest difference to my shopping anyway......

As to the Christmas ads, the retro Tesco one mentioned by Richard is truly dire, if I were Jack Cohen I'd be asking for my money back from the ad agency.
Thick mist this morning, but sunny day soon developed, nasty NNE breeze though, temp dropping rapidly now, ultra clear sky, frost tonight? (Must have another look for that bright star that Cali identified for us)
