Another lovely day today. The only thing is, it was rather foggy to start of with!

In Ultima Thule this Monday a.m., the clouds are so low I cannot see a single hill at all - it is whiteout. Which makes this upcountry look fenland, BUT the wind is high, and there is constant rain spiking it. Utterly dreech. But not cold.

      Yet.

No rain here so far! In fact, quite a pleasant day in general. I decided this was to be the last day of summer, and accordingly chose a suitable round trip on the bike, covering roughly 28 miles' worth of familiar and unfamiliar terrain: S Circular to Clapham; Wandsworth; South Hill Putney; Putney Bridge; Hurlingham Park; Kings Road; Gloucester Road and the architecturally and historically interesting area just to its west; a quick snack lunch from the vendor just inside Kensington Gardens at the Broad Walk's southern end; then home via Earls Court, past the house that was our home until I was 12, Albert Bridge, Battersea, Clapham Common and the South Circular.

Tonight I'm off to a gig at The Vortex in Dalston - I certainly won't be making it there by bike: my legs are all in!!!

I'm training at work just now, for three weeks. One of the drawbacks is that this takes place in a windowless training room, so it's impossible to see what the weather's doing. When I left shortly after 5 pm, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was a fine and mild evening.

Heavy showers with sunny intervals in Nessieland. Somewhat colder, too. Next week on holiday in Ayrshire, so hope it is a bit warmer by then. Plenty of Gerald Finzi on R3 this morning.

Rain sweeping in from NW/N, driving wind.....much colder.

Yes my early ride in was chillyish, borderline glove weather for maximum comfort... But I just stood outside in the sun and it was extremely warming, and the breeze was welcome to cool a little. Gorgeous day now

Rather a nip in the air today but now the clouds are gathering again, maybe in readiness for tomorrow's weather!!

Can we assume that you are now at previous levels of fitness since your stay in hospital S_A? In which case, God Bless the NHS!
Certainly felt nippy first thing, (although it was 13° at 7am it only climbed another 2 degrees today), wind chill but lovely in sun (which has not been in abundance and now thickening cloud), very delicate lemon and pink sunrise. Greengrocer now has wet walnuts - a sure sign it's finally Autumn - and also plenty of green cobnuts.

Enjoy Ayrshire. I lived at the very northern tip for a number of years. I'm sure you'll find it milder than Nessieland, but I fear wetter also.

Here today it's been fine and sunny for the most part, with a few spots of rain, but very windy. A chill 9º C at 5 pm.

The expected cold weather arrived here this afternoon rather than tomorrow with a biting northerly wind. It's Berghaus and fleece tomorrow!
