Floods a.m. up here, and now? Brilliant sun, barely a cloud, ferocious wind.

Here in the Great Glen, the promised storm has not materialised - some rain this morning, with the occasional gust of wind, and sunny and bright this afternoon.

        Watch this space!

Fairly windy here but not, I think, the 50mph gales that were forecast. A wet afternoon with the heating on for the first time in ages.

Strange day weather wise, after the deluge and strong winds earlier we now have blue sky and the sun's come out to play.

Very bright and breezy this morning. But I will wear my rain jacket just in case.

Very much like April here - bright sunshine one moment, pouring down the next .

Temp here at noon 6C, and with driving freezing rain, more like 4C.

Really quite pleasant in nessieland! One or two showers, wee bit colder, some sun. Actually, not bad at all for north of Scotland. Having to put the heating on occasionally, though.

Here's Brummie Simon's review of the "first storm of the season":

Very clear viz here, as I write, moderate westerly, one or two cumulus just about large enough now to produce a light shower, otherwise at 13 C worth remembering to put a jacket on for outside.

Dry and overcast here today. Temp 11ºC. I don't know how that compares with alycidon's nessieland. (What a great name!)

It'll be pitch black when I leave work this evening at 8 pm - a sure sign that winter is on its way.

Massive hail storm in central London right now!

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I can see it from here - perhaps the lunchtime local weather forecaster who predicted light showers (when she just had to take a look at the clouds outside) would now like to eat her hat!

M'learned friend's nose not exactly to the grindstone this afternoon

All hail here too, but an hour later.
