Hardly any rain here, heavyish in the early hours, stopped by 6.30am, cleared nicely by midday to give good prolonged sunny spells and a high of 18° (so much for the Met Office yellow warning!) I think tomorrow we may not get too much either as it seems to be over N.&W. Wales. Monday thru Thursday very warm, 23° to 25° with some good stargazing early in the week. This weekend is European Heritage Open Doors but I think in England and Scotland it's next weekend? Worth looking out to see what buildings are participating in your area, and it's all free. I'm hoping to go and see some ornate 17th century plastered ceilings rarely open to the public!
(I've been getting quotes for further work and have again met the let's pull the wool over the eyes of the single female who wouldn't have a clue syndrome! I really thought that attitude had died out .... )

Certainly not in general in the case of young women these days, I would have thought, Anna - though, with pensioners, the conpersons have always been less inclined to discriminate on grounds of gender...
The heaviest of the rains would appear to have fallen further north, but there's been enough rain from this morning to leave deep puddles in this area. Today just 17 C reached; to be honest I am glad that temperatures have now fallen: yesterday's morning fog cleared by nine am but left a stifling legacy of humidity that made the 26 C maximum seem a lot higher than it was. But I shall miss my afternoon sunning sessions, spent re-reading 1970s political pamphlets to try and figure where we went wrong.

In Scotland it's spread over four weekends. It starts tomorrow; Dundee is next weekend. Quite useful, because Scotland is relatively small, and it gives one a chance to see more if the dates are different.
Anna, I do hope you manage to keep your eyes wool free. That's a particularly nasty way for tradespeople to behave. I'm sure there's plenty of expertise around here if you feel you do need help.
OT: Still dry here, but much colder - 12ºC when I came home half an hour ago.

Anna, the 'let's pull the wool' is alive and well, believe me. Although, malelocal cousin seems to think most quotes okay. It's very time consuming but you are not alone.
You do know about 'Checkatrade' I hope. Caliban will help with that if you are interested.

Oh, I know exactly how much a litre of Dulux costs and how many square metres it'll cover and how many days max it would take!! So, he's been kicked into touch. (It's usually motor mechanics who try it on)
I don't think Open Doors gets as much publicity as it should (also, I think London have a completely separate date towards the end of the month?)
Lovely and sunny here now, just some big white fluffy clouds. I may relax with the tv prom tonight, it seems to have been a very long week.
Missed that yesterday - had I waited until today, I could've answered my own question: after a couple of sunny, humid days in the Pennines, the rain started bucketing down at about 3.00 o'clock this morning and hasn't stopped all day. Temperature has fallen from 22 degrees yesterday to eleven today - and the forecast is for similar until at least Tuesday.
