On topic, lovely weather, creeping up to 22°, breezy, grass not yet dry enough to cut, seems we shall have dry and sunny all week until Saturday and a scorching bank holiday.

A wonderfully pink sky just now to the south, patches of clouds apparently under-lit in pink, roseate clouds in fact with the unaffected clouds in a dove grey

Edit: the orange-pink illuminated cloud is last vestiges of an old weather system - cloud base at about 10,000 feet I'd estimate, whereas the grey cloud underneath would be between 4-6,000 feet. Altocumulus always gives the best sunsets.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

"As the remains of the grey cumulus congestus clouds stood proud and retreated to the horizon, their outlines picked out by the evening sun, white ragged remains of little grey cumulus hung on overhead. Above them were medium-level altocumulus, puffy little clouds that spead out to resemble sheets of bread rolls.
Even higher were much smaller cirrus floccus - round clouds below which long strings appeared to dangle. These strings are streaks of ice crystals which fall from the cloud before evaporating Alongside the cirrus floccus, and to complicate things further, was a fibrous veil of cirrostratus and a blanket of cirrocumulus stratisformis; rounded cloudlets that join up to create a blanket of cloud.
This was an evening sky reminiscent of Constable's painting A View of Hampstead painted in 1822when a westerly airstream brought showers."
Isn't that lovely? It was a weather report from Saturday's Times about the weather in London on last Thursday evening. I kept it as I thought, as S_A oft reports looking out over London to Hampstead he might like it
On topic. Been ok, last two days, 22° today, bit fresh this morning but near enough perfect summer weather.
Edit: If mangerton or 8obs have wireless on their devices, hope they are having a lovely time on hols!Last edited by Guest; 20-08-13, 16:31.
