Stormy Weather

Not particularly warm today. Sunny but with a strong wind which really took the edge of whatever warmth there was.

There are reports of it getting a good deal warmer again towards the weekend. Any more info on this, S-A? Relatives in Central Europe were reporting temperatures of over 40 degrees last week. Is it moving this way?

No Petrushka - weather's expected to be on the slide towards the weekend after a couple of warm muggy days in the south, followed by wet and windy weather into early next week. Really warm weather's not predicted to return until around the 23rd anywhere here, according to "Brummie Simon", with high pressure building up to the east.

Unfortunately no sightings of meteors here, the patchy cloud thickened, did anyone in the S.E. see any of them? There was a BBC news item from Sussex about it.

Today got to just over 19°, occasional light shower or two, bright sun just breaking through now. Early hours yesterday were really chilly at just 8°

(Boiler has been delivered plus numerous cardboard boxes, pipes, etc. Gasman phoned to say they'll be here at 8.30am tomorrow. Spent the day again sorting, clearing, scrubbing. Never have I used so many cleaning products in such a short time! [Can I also say, having never used it, that Cillit-Bang is a veritable wonder?] Also agonised over what sort of biscuits they might prefer ..... Maryland Cookies and Hobnobs were on offer as were boxes of Waitrose's Luxury Cookies, I thought if I bought the latter they might never go home! So, I'm off for a pizza and a beer, goodness what tomorrow will bring)

Not a Perseid to be seen here last night, yet at 7.30 am today there was a clear blue sky. The day did not live up to its early promise, as it soon clouded over again, and the temp stayed around 16º C.

I wish....I wish....have been very nostagic about the places I've talked of....wishing I was on the high NW coast of Scotland up Shieldaig way....wishing too that it would be midge free....that someone else would organise it, do all the heavy lifting and keep the dogs entertained....so that i could have a nice quiet look at the changing view without interuptions....oh yes + tea on demand + sardines on toast....

Everything is on view from up the top here - binoculars are a bonus. On an exceptionally clear day one can see the long line of the Chilterns 30 miles to the north-west. It's clouding up now from the advancing warm front, though atmosphere remains very clear. Earlier on, the temperature managed to reach a pleasant 23 C.
