... perhaps not "so sad" - rather an instructive insight into the workings of nature - which isn't pertick'ly concerned with our human emotions....

Best chuckle of the day so far!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Where is S_A, our weather guru.? At 4pm we had some drizzle. At 4.04 it stopped. Not what we were promised by the BBC Weather boys.

Ah, you can't always trust these gurus. Did you know the word "guru" has an interesting derivation?

At first, there weren't many of them, but soon their numbers just guru and guru. (I won't get my coat, because it's a lovely day here.)

But, he calls it a jersey, a wonderful old-fashioned word for what I would call a jumper (never a sweater, to me sweaters are casual and sloppy and made of cotton, jumpers are made of wool) Now, to me, proper jerseys are worn by rugged fishermen in the Channel Islands, they have boat necks to allow for movement to heave the nets aboard - is a Scottish jersey rather like an Aran or is it one of those Pringle type things with diamonds down the front that golfers wear? (I am not au fait with male fashions!)
Forgive me, I'm just waiting for the meal to cook so am musing to myself quietly!
On topic: down to 17° and still tipping down - for once I will not have to water the beans tonight (I did put about 3 gallons on them first thing this morning and I reckon I can pick some tomorrow)

Looks like the rain has come in rather to the west of where expected - looks like it is chucking it down at Salisbury races .

Now feeling very grey and heavy up here- rain probably close by .

I thought i was the only one to call them jumpers and that's what I wear-nottoday though.

Beside me I have a lovely little Teddy, from a Health Pills company, wearing a knitted Guernsey erm, sweater, top, jumper. It was sent when I spent over £10 on an order and am very fond ofit. It did come from Guernsey so I suppose that is how the Jersey got its name.

Oh, a sweet little Teddy, but I think Guernseys are different from Jerseys, something to do with the knit .... (where have all the men got to to advise?) I too have a teddy, he's cross-eyed with a beer belly, impossibly long legs and huge feet and sports a tartan bow tie, really scruffy .... but I love him to death, wouldn't be without him. I think everyone has a Teddy, even if they hide him away.

No, he's called Jimbo! Sorry no trendy literary connections, he's just simple and cuddly! Rather like the majority of men in my life ...........
