We're supposed to have thunderstorms but they say that , they never come!

Rain, rain go away...more showers this afternoon. Needless to say, we did not go to the "works" picnic this afternoon.

Another fine day here today. We seem to have had the best of the weather in the Midlands and North of England, though we did have a few thunderstorms and torrential rain earlier in the week. Other than that it's been fine with plenty of sunshine and light winds. Perfect summer weather.

Looks like it's all about to change tomorrow with heavy rain forecast but good weather seems to be following on from it. At the Proms Sunday and Monday so hoping for sunshine.

I have no idea as to what to expect today. The BBC promised rain, becoming heavy, from midday until midnight with possible storms tomorrow. The Met Office warning map for heavy rain doesn't reach as far as here and promises the occasional light shower with heavier rain (no storms) for tomorrow. I've been out shopping and it's now 21°, blue skies, rather hazy. It does seem certain though that BBM at some stage may get his longed for storm (Yesterday afternoon got unexpectedly very hot here and climbed to 24.6°)

I wouldn't mind a couple of rainy afternoons this weekend as I have masses of urgent stuff indoors that needs attention and rain means I won't get distracted by garden matters. Also, as we were promised a lot cooler today and I have a friend coming for something to eat I'm going to cook (no salad today!) some sort of spicy lamb dish.

Another hot, sunny morning. Heavy rain should have reached BBM Towers long ago according to the BBC forecast with the rain moving northwards during the afternoon. Let's hope it stays away and doesn't play havoc with the horse racing at Ascot! Will be setting off to the Great Metropolis once the racing has finished. Looking very much forward to Barenboim's rendition of Gotterdammerung tomorrow evening.

The BBC forecast for Sidcup is for a very wet day, interspersed with sunny periods. So far no rain seems likely. Anemones are drooping with the heat and dare not walk over the flower beds, which are knee high with what my dad called 'totty grass'.

I hope Suffolk coz will lend a hand later in the week, if she comes this way.

Coffee time I think, have a nice day Anna [and all]

Just a constant round of pleasures, Pet, ain't it?! Good for you

Dry here too... Pity, was looking forward to a wet one (no need to go out today)!

The BBC weather pictures on their website suggest the rain is still over the channel and likely to arrive later than they originally suggested .

Off-topic: I posted about 10 days ago about the Big Butterfly Count (still open until 11th August to send in sightings, not restricted to just one day's total) Last night there was a Springwatch special, some amazing photography re caterpillars and how they make, and structure of, the cocoons and then the butterflies hatching (some of the programme was a too Blue Peterish and a naff soundtrack, I wanted more science, but, interesting all the same but then I love butterflies and moths)

on this map it has not crossed the channel [yet]

afraid i find the bbc/met office combo somewhat less than accurate lately ...

Great to hear from all you hedonists! It's a lovely day here, sun streaming down from a cloudless sky. I can see it through the office window.

Unfortunately, the air con is blasting out so much cold air I've had to put on a jersey.
