Idon't want storms, just a gentle rain. It looks as though next week will be a mixture of rain and sun here, just hope the plants can last that long.

Clear blue skies and far less humidity over here this AM. Yesterday a friend and I drove over the bridge to Jamestown, RI during a horrendous downpour to join another friend for lunch. The skies cleared as we enjoyed our salad and crab cakes and we were able to drive home under better conditions. I can hear the cicadas humming outside heralding the back half of summer.

Everyone I spoke to yesterday said how much they have enjoyed the storm but couldn't remember such continuous flashing, one elderly lady said it reminded her of being in London during The Blitz. Today has been same as yesterday, around 24.7°, reasonable breeze, rain promised here later which will continue through the night, possible localised thunderstorms but more likely to have storms on Sunday and after brief drop in temps at weekend back to hot again.

I had to look up mangerton's Day of the Triffids reference - I will steer clear of watching green meteor showers! And sorry S_A had to cancel his reunion with friend and Goan meal, although spicy food is very cooling in hot weather I too have an aversion to a cooked meal in these conditions, I could manage something like marthe's light lunch but definitely nothing involving meat, so (sorry BBM) it'll be salady stuff again tonight! My windowsill basil, which is a very large bush, has developed some sort of stickiness/mini aphids on the leaves so unfortunately it'll have to be scrapped - I imagine it's been caused by the humidity?

The really silly thing is that I felt better by the evening - the weather had freshened up, and so I went to the gig, which was very good. Sorry to hear about your basil, Anna!

26 C here at the mo', 3/4 cloudy - but gone thank god is all that humidity. I must check Weatherweb, because I thought Brummie Simon was predicting a cooling off everywhere for next week.

I'm finally getting round to posting this.... There was a spectacular and noisy storm here last night around 11 pm. It was the main talking point in the office today.

Today, after early morning mist, has been dry, sunny and pleasantly (22ºC) warm.

Don't quote me on it definitely getting warmer, I just looked at the BBC site for here, tomorrow to Sunday they say it'll be 23,24,22,21 and then Monday to Friday: 23,24,25,27,25 but showery on and off all the way. Getting quite dark here (have to have the light on), rain clouds building up, I've only just seen Met Office have yellow warning for rain on Saturday and Sunday for London & S.E. (so BBM might get a storm and stop feeling left out!) and a warning for Scotland for today.

You might find that this weekend is different...

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I think this has been in a lot of newspapers (& the Sun) but in case you missed it -

According to the photographer the frog held onto the leaf for half an hour!

Obviously the opposite of Travis' experience. Actually they've missed us so far - this evening it eventually rained but no light shows or barrel-rolling!

Ah Cloughie! We staying in Liskeard next year!

A rather dull overvcast day so far, after rain during the night. The weather people say that this afternoon should be sunny?

I had high hopes for yesterday night but it was such a disappointment!
Because the rain clouds had started building up early causing it to be so dark by around 8.00 I had to have the lights on, and with the wind getting up, I really thought we would have a good downpour. Alas, when it eventually arrived at around 1.00am it produced a piffling 2mm. However, this morning was quite fresh and a bit dull, now and again it looked as if rain might occur but it steadily brightened during the morning and peaked mid-afternoon at 24.6°, so a pleasant day.
Still huge uncertainty re the storm mass heading up from France on Sunday and whether it might snake Westwards or not, I think not.

Well, I suppose really we we could do with some of that wet stuff now. Ah well..........

A lovely day, cooler than of late, a pleasant breeze and just now a blue sky with the pinkest clouds - very pretty

The forecast is for more unsettled showery weather tomorrow I see, back to nice enough on Sunday
